You know, you always catch the nice one's when you A: you aren't fishing for money or B: when you least expect it. I went out back to the lake behind the house for about an hour last night to further my wife's ongoing education of a Baitcasting 101 (a challenge in itself) and banged this toad showing her how to walk the dog with a Chug Bug....not a bad evening!

It's pretty sad that you are that pitiful of an individual to have to make such a petty comment. I bet you need to say **** like that to make yourself feel better when in reality, your existence is probably pretty pathetic and based on all the crap I have seen posted about you on this board, I'm probably pretty accurate. But hey, I'm a better man than that and have never met you, but I will tell you that you won't have the pleasure of shaking my hand, so enjoy living your cowardly life while I get back to enjoying this board for what it is....sharing information about our passions in life, bass fishing.

Thanks guys, much appreciated! As for the shirt, it's funny you say that as I am a die-hard Cubs fan (I know, pathetic) and the shirt was free at a Marlins game and after showing the pic to a few of my buddies up north, the one comment they all mentioned was how brutal the shirt was!....oh well, if you can't bust a little balls, then there is no fun. Tight lines guys.

WAIT TILL THE TOURNAMENTS START..AND READ ALL ABOUT THE FISH CAGES,WEIGHTS IN THE BELLIES OF FISH..AND CHEATING IN GENERAL..NOBODY NAMES NAMES..JUST ACCUSATIONS THROWN AT THE WINNERS..

LAST I READ..FISHING IS A SPORT..

Hold on...I love to fish and I love the fish...When I moved here years ago I followed my home team,
but when the marlins came to be, I gave them my support. I dont understand how people live hear and
"Hate" a local team. THIS, is the type of person I would imagine the anonomous wimps to be.
(you know, kind of like the jet fans hate the dolphins, yet still live hear)

I hear you on supporting the local team, but I dont think anyone said they didn't, well at least I didn't. I'm a 'phins fan and support the marlins, but will always be a Cubs and Bears fan first, just in my blood. I am actually in the sports memorabilia industry and our company facilitates alot of the player signings and let me tell you, my views on sports have changed dramatically over the years. Dealing with professional athletes is no walk in the park and has really soured my opinions of some of my childhood idols. Sad, but true.

I agree about the sports fans...and you can take me out of Chicago but never take Chicago out of me..
I have been a Cub fan for prior to 1940..and a Bear fan about the same..and the Bulls in their championship years. I worked in Jordans house and Pippens as well.
Chicago is a great city..alive for 24 hours a day..not like this wimpy Fort Lauderdale..And the fishing on Lake Michigan is fabulous..they are ctching Largemouths in the harbors and Smallouths along the rock jetties and Yellow Perch and Walleyes in the open waters of the lake..in addition to Lake trout, steelhead trout, king salmon, coho salmon and german brown trout

6 or 7lbs???

October 15 2008, 5:31 PM

I would guess this fish would be pushing the 10lb mark. Not sure as he is holding it out a bit but it is definitely more then 6 or 7lbs.

Re: 6 or 7lbs???

She is definitely bigger than 7. I didn't get a weight, but got a length and girth that when computed out put her at 9.07. Give some margin for girth measuring error which is always the odd variable in that calculation and she could be a half a pound lighter than that. I dont really care, as she was a real healthy fish and is still swimming. The lake is in Weston for those who asked and is actually quite large for subdivision standards. As for holding it out, it’s not as stretched out as you may think and my wife who was taking the photo, is actually standing higher than I am on a hill (you can tell by the background slopes). None the less, it was fun and certainly a bonus fish for not being in the boat that night.

OK, so call it between 8-1/2 and 9-1/2 pounds.

That's a trophy fish!

Well done, Steve.

Re: Odd Catch.....

Sadly, the best fish usually come while you're playing around in the back yard. I got my FL "big catch citation" bass, (24 1/2") while showing my oldest daughter how to cast her Barbie rod in the lake next to my aunt's house.
I cast a floating worm out on my rod when Hannah decided that fishing is stupid & threw her rod on the ground, when I reached down to pick it up, the bass almost ripped my rod out of my hand.
