Yeah, and we make them money by visiting their youtube video.
What you are really watching is a display of a total lack of respect veiled as a "youthful prank". Whatever prank I may have been in on as a child never cost anybody anything.
You can bet your you-know-what if one of those kids would have injured THEMSELVES during that prank, their parents would have become major stockholders in BPS. All the blame would be on the store and not the wrong-doer.
If I were Johnny Morris, I would hunt them down and sue their behinds for reckless endangerment to all his shoppers that day.
They ran away wet...leaving water for some one else to slip on and...get the point???
You should be thankful we can afford anything in stores like that with the price of insurance they must pay.

Easy there DD, my comment regarding the link was not of praise or accolade, but more of facetiousness towards the youth of america. That being said, there are certainly worse things kids do these days than jump in an aquarium at BPS, so to be honest, I actually found some humor in the whole thing. As for Johnny Morris' business insurance, I handle my company's business insurance which grosses more than BPS and it isn't as expensive as you may think, not that this makes it right. Also, if I am not mistaken, BPS is a private company not a public one, so I dont think anyone would become major stockholders if a lawsuit happened in the event of one of them getting hurt. Not to say people don't sue over anything these days, which we all know is sadly true. |

Steve, I wasn't coming back at you...I commented on what I saw, nothing more.
But I will ask you, that... since you are an insurance expert, does your company have similar insurance to that needed by BPS or Wal Mart or other big box stores? Facilities with those kinds of business descriptions have HUGE insurance policies. And those policies have gaping windows of opportunity like the one we saw in that video in spite of all the attempts to close those "windows" by the insurance companies themselves.
No, BPS is not publicly traded, but even a private incorporated company has "shares" of stock. The principles have determined how much stock they started with and may or may not increased the volume depending on any extra investors they might have taken on over time. Those kids parents would most definately have become major "investors" if something would have gone awry. They wouldn't have seeked monies that BPS couldn't come up with all at once...but they'd be on the payroll I'll bet.
It's funny (odd) for me though Steve. When I watched that video, I never thought for once that it was "funny". I'm hardly a "stick in the mud" and have a 17 year old myself. I just don't look at kids nowadays the way I was looked at when I and others my age were teenagers. And there are certainly worse things a kid could do...that's true. But I see it(nowadays) as a rung on a ladder. The ladder goes up...and it goes down. Stuff like that is a rung down, especially...if that video was shot by an accomplice...and I'm gonna bet it was. It was done to "one up" prior you-tube offerings. Kids are spending more time trying to be recognized for what they did to "shock" an audience and gain "street cred" instead of recognizing when something(in yhis case, a prank) is crossing a line and should be abandoned.
Steve, you ever play a video game where you shot at "zombies" or "bad guys"? Yeah, I have too. You ever play one where you shot at police men and women? You ever shoot cab drivers to steal their car in a video game? Run over innocent bystanders for "extra credit"? Fire "head shots" for extra credit? I haven't played those games Steve. Neither has my 17 year old son. But if I had to bet...what do you think the odds are that those "pranksters" at BPS have?
I never aimed any commentary at you though...just the video in general.

Well spoken DD, my hat's off to you and from what it seems, you have your 17 year old on a path better than most kids these days, again, I tip my hat. I believe someone on here (I believe it was Marv) recently said, a child who fishes doesn't get into as much trouble as other kids and I have to agree. All too often I see that generation as the "entitlement generation"...never wanting to actually work for something, simply feeling they are entitled to it. Just my opinion.
As for the humor I saw, I viewed it for what it is....A senseless act by a couple of kids that has an Animal House aura to it. I hate to use a cliche here, but boys are going to be boys at times and it's up to their parents to ensure that they know right from wrong. There was nothing malicious about it in my mind, but I absolutely hear you on the fact that it will be repeated and You Tube acts as a forum for them to "one up" each other. Good chat DD. |

Yeah D.D. manage your own kids to grow up to be respectful, successful and decent. If my kid wants to go into his school, take out an automatic rifle and shoot everyone in the class and have it filmed on U tube and then commit suicide and die in infamy that's his right. Aint that right Dummasshhdd? You tell him!

You know that anyone who fishes alot in S. florida has been to Bass Pro Shop. So to see somone post a link to this on here (as long as they dont claim they did it) is kind of cool. No one is promoting it. But some people always have somthing to say. A long rant.Ussually the same peson too.
We all know who it is. He claims not to be a trouble maker, but we all thought he was here for the money. Like an earlier thread about posting your open results instead of making people look them up on there web site. |

"we all know who it is"??? You should know...you dork. It's because I sign all my posts! I don't have to hide.
I look forward to the opportunity to talk to you in person at some point and I can only hope some one else is there to give a true account of what takes place.
...42.31...you're a punk. I don't like punks. You're a whiner. I don't like whiners. So where do you think you stand with me?
Why don't you tell everybody here who you are and why you don't like me or the trail I fish? Here's why you don't. You don't because people that do know you already wouldn't trust you to tell them the sun was gonna rise in the morning. You don't because your opinion plus your identity makes your opinion even more meaningless. ...42.31...you are meaningless. D.D. said that.
Everyone, go back and look at ANYTHING 42.31 has posted. Tell me if I'm wrong. He complains about everything and attacks anything. Only on the rarest occasion does he find middle ground. The mark of a punk. |

Kind of funny, but plain stupid. I agree, if they got hurt, or if a customer slipped in the water and got hurt, BPS would face a huge lawsuit. As an insurance rep, I can guarantee that would cause the prices to rise at all BPS locations. It's not like someone tripping in the parking lot, this was all on tape. Any good lawyer would have a field day with this.
