A well known angler caught a team in a red tracker fishing a tournament at the holy lands last week cheating, they left there boat and fished the other side of the levee , this is a real shame and it goes against what all of us directors are trying to do for south florida angler to throw an event that is fair and on equal footing , I am sad that this day has come but the real crime is the club is with holding there names and that is a crime as well , With all the opens at Holiday and now at the holy lands , lox , ida / osborne we need to know there names to ban them from all these events , i am not asking to post there names on this site but you should contact all of the directors private and give them up to protect are fellow anglers and trails. next years king series will cost $10 more a boat for a lie detector test at the events but not all trails can afford this so we need help from others to chase out the cheaters , and I would like to thank the anglers who braved the situation and came forward .
Their names should not be withheld unless there was extenuating circumstances. It should be the directors discretion as to whether they should be banned or not from future tournaments. I feel other fishermen should know their names and the entire situation. Are they new and didn't know? Were they flat out cheating? Etc? Information and knowledge go hand in hand.
It doesnt matter what the circumstances were. If they were caught cheating in any way there names should be made public. IMO that is. If they entered any event , it is there responsibility to know the rules. If there was a question of where they could or couldn't fish , they should have asked before take off. Anyone that has EVER fished a tournament know you dont leave your boat except for emergencies and to fish the other side of the levee isnt one. I agree with BLM. I think it is the clubs responsibility to at least inform the other directors. Kinda makes me re-think the 100% without a polygraph. SAD SAD SAD. This is my opinion of course.
But why just let the directors know, fishermen make for the best police especially when they are competing against others. If the names are made public, then we as tournament fishermen can make sure they are not allowed in future events. Get their names out, let people know about them and see where the chips fall. Those who are willing to cheat in such a way as leaving the boat to get to the fish are probably willing to cheat in other ways.
it's all about the money and if you look at a trail from a distance you think oh what a $1200.00 pay out well to some thats worth risking it all and thats ashame but it's bigger than that a small trail like Freds and the King of the Glades offers even more for example -- Hank and Skip in KOTG 1 and Steve and Rodd In KOTG 2 all placed more than once and won over 6k in the series and Tony M and Brett I. won a KOTG record 3k in one event so the money adds up and I fished with all above names and trust me when I say there great anglers and 30lb sacks are a norm for these guys , but there will always be someone willing to go above the rhelm and do what it takes to win . so this is just one of the reasons why I took a year off so i can get the King Series protected with a lie detector test and other stuff. 99.9% of south Florida anglers are honest folks and great fishermen and fisherwomen but this proves me right. I am fishing freds Trail this year and I hope to compete with all of you on this site and not on this site in a fair and honest way. Like i said I feel the directors should be aware of this team and I dont feel everyone should because were not looking for a beat down , i will say this about a comment -- I have fished tournaments both club and open for a long time and I cant EVER remember anyone letting you leave your boat to fish a hidden lake or canal and to say they didnt know this would be a joke . it ashame all the people on this site calling everyone who wins a cheater but this is what we all have been asking for to catch and turn them in .
But why not release their names to all of the fishermen. After all, they are not just cheating the directors, they are cheating all of the fishermen. Actually I would say they are cheating the fishermen even more than the directors. Do they not deserve a beat down or a verbal beat down. If their names come out then other fishermen will at least keep a very close eye on them if some director lets them fish again.
I dont know what else to say , I am sure there names will get out but what will happen next I dont know , in all of the years fishing and directing I have never been confronted with this type of thing all I can say is you know it happens but you never want it to happen in your club or open event and I feel for the director of that event because it will be on his mind forever , we all want to win and be the best we can be and we all would love a nice pay day , but with all the time we spend on the water and spend on gas and our boats and the entery fees to have someone take it in a cheating way is wrong . I hope that this is the last time we hear this type of stuff going on and it's ashame that some people will take the easy way instead of the honest way. I am sick of hearing about snagging fish and cages and now getting out of the boat , this is not what South Florida Anglers are all about and will only feed the fires of some . sad day indeed !
Cheating in a Bass Tournemant for a money prize is a felony !!! The Cheaters sould be prosecuted, and if convicted, banned from all future tournaments. All tournaments should adopt a no tolerence rule, then everyone would know, if they are caught cheating, they would be prosecuted, Sad to say but this in necessary.
Mike, I think you should not have posted anything about this unless you were willing to post the names also. If you posted the names then the other fishermen would at least know who not to fish against. This way everyone knows there are cheaters fishing tournaments in the area but have no idea who they are. This will cause some to choose not to fish local tournaments. This will make the payouts smaller and may cause some smaller tourneys not get enough participation to even hold an event. This partial information IMO will have a negative effect on all tournaments in the area.
I no longer live in the area so it will not affect me but I know a lot of the guys fishing there because I did fish the area for over 30 years. Some of them will now shy away from participation.

Im just glad I own a triton and not a red tracker.I think we should give up their names so the innocent owners of red trackers dont have any problems at future tournaments.
They don't fish any trials that I know. The tournament was also an invite only, not a club, with several boats that have limited tournament fishing experiance. You guys will not have to worry about them. It was wrong. I really think it was a case of 2 people with limited tournament experiance thinking that to do what they did in the tournament world is probably worse than anything that you can do in any other sport. Trust me, they are living in there own hell right now becuase they work with several of the guys they cheated agianst.

If they were new to tournament fishing and the rules weren't told of writen then maybe they just didn't know, I would think if they were looking to truly cheat they would of brought a bag of fish from over the levee not went with a fishing rod to make some casts, sound more like just plain not knowing the rules.
For the most part I don' t think they would ever think of cheating now that they have been accused, but I don't know the real story, I am going by here say!
When I fish it is not only about the money it is about competing against the best and winning, if you cheat, well your only beating yourself out of the that chance.
So when I hear about someone cheating I have to wonder if it is really true and what were the circumstances.
This is just my opinion, as I said before I was not there so I can't be the judge.

Bottom line Mike you need to mind your own busniess and not worry about other peoples Tournaments. Because you had all kind of romurs with your KOTG Trail about Cheating thats why you don't have a Trail anymore. You need to worry about your little invite only club you run it must be nice to have a club you can invite fisherman you can beat because you couldn't make it on a Major Tournament Trail.
King series isnt there because I have stuff to do and as far as my club I have 4 king of the glades qualifiers fishing my trail and John Pate and Jp McKay oh ya I let them fish mine because your to much of a pussy to let them fish yours. see you on the water :]

I know Fred , there all talk , someone who cheats is everyones buiswax and he can talk about the King Of The Glades all he wants 3 years 97 boat per tourney average over $100,000.00 payed out , over 10 grand in prizes there isnt anything that can be said that would bother me about my trail ,
as far as my fishing skills i have placed in the top 15 in every glades tournament fished except night tournaments and placed top 2 in every ida/osborne tournament and i owe all my fishing know how to Tony M. , John Pate , Hank Krieg , Mike Allgiar , Jeff l. these are the Anglers who have shown me the way of the everglades maybe people should fish with people that can help them become better anglers instead of complaining . thanks ,

That right there is total BS. You may have averaged 67 boats but nowhere near 97.
Just because your trail was drilled by people callling out people does not mean you need to do it.
Your tournamnet series was a OPEN tournament. this tournament in question was a small PRIVATE tournament, there is a huge difference.
It is funny all this jumping up and down is just a smoke screen, trying to get the attention off oneself and on to another.
These guys were caught and have to deal with it everyday, and if everyone thinks they are the only ones, LOL, you have to be kidding me. People will cheating at anything for any amount of fame or money. Releasing these guys names will do nothing but satisfy other people, and since this occured in a PRIVATE tournament, it is not their obligation to release anyone's name.
BLM, you have had many questionable things happen during your King series, and yes I know, with a series that big there will be issues, but you have not handled them perfectly, so stop whining about how someone else handles their, IT DID NOT INVOLED YOU!!!

Who cares who the Mounty is and who cares who the guys in the red Tracker are. It's the guys that haven't been caught who you should worry about.
If you think something doesn't look right, you need to speak up at the weigh-in. Once the weigh-in is over, it's over. Anytime there is money involved there will be a certain percentage who will always try to get away with something. It's a shame, it's not right, but it's a fact.
As far as the Mounty goes, sometimes he's funny but mostly he's a jerk. He just gets off on pushing buttons. Hey Danny......watch out when you bend over for the net!
Hey Mike each of the guys you mentioned are awsome people as well as great fisherman. I have had the chance to talk with each of them at one time or another and even know some personaly. They are honest and will help another fisherman by giving tips and recomendations. I also have had conversations with you and think highly of you. Mike, don't let these jerks get to you again. Keep your cool, I know I'm not alone in saying that your welcome back on the site. I just hope Luke will come back.
Listen I was in the tourny that the two anglers were caught fishing and I know for a fact they do not fish any trails.Except with there own group of guys and I told them about the problem.And trust me they are hating it at work and they will never fish another tourny with us again.They are to ashamed to show there faces.When we confronted them I told them they were a piece of sh.. if they did that.They did call the tourny director a few minutes later and admitted what they did.And if by some miracle they do show there face out there I will let the director know.I can tell you now they are not tourny fisherman.I know how you all feel about it because of all the rumors about people cheating and these 2 guys got caught red handed.Trust me I was furious when I was told about this.And I do thank the anglers that told me about what they were doing.See you all on the water.Will be fishing the tourny this weekend at holiday good luck to everyone.

Thanks Bassin we have met more than once and your a trust worthy guy and I was not trying to start a bunch of crap with my post just trying to protect all the anglers who work hard to pay there entery fees into the tournament it does not matter to me if it's in the gldaes or the lake or ida when you pay hard earned money to compete against fellow anglers and friends everyone should be on the same playing field . Thanks bassin for your words. and about all the rumors on the king series this was NOT the only trail of rumors , I heard everything last year from snagging fish , to weighing in frozen dead fish to caging fish , everyone is so on edge with this and everyone is watching everyone like hawks , and it doesnt end for some even after passing a lie detector test some are still questioned . see ya Fred on your trail
BLM was told months in advance about team PAPP. He said he was going to take care of it and did nothing. That is why the King of The Glades series took a dump. We fisherman can police ourselves but when you have a director that does nothing there is not much you can do as an angler. This is why Luke and Fred are the only ones that will get my money this year because they will do something (right or wrong )and that is all you can ask. Lie detector tests do not work so why should we pay another $10 per tournament when we can fish with a director who cares about the fishermen and not the money.

You know whats funny marv is everyone on this site who hides behind there IP's and call people cheaters would never go up to the people they say are cheating and have the balls to say it to there faces and you can say Papps name all you want he fished every open last year and no one ever caught them cheating so as far as I am concerned no proof - no action same thing everyone said steve and rodd cheated and they even put me and my partner tony on there fish after they won the classic and my partner won two tourneys in a row with over 27lbs each as far as i am concerned there are a couple of sore losers on this site who will start crap and i feel bad for the next team that gets on a hot streak at the park they will be cheaters 2 . as far as papp goes I went above and beyond what any open tournament did last year , i checked there boat , there truck , inside there truck , inside there rod lockers and even made sure once signed in they stayed in there boat , if they had fish caged up out there then show the proof , the pics something if not shut the **** up.

Doesn't everyone get a boat check? I'm glad that you checked their rod locker and truck. Why didn't you have them take their shoes off maybe they were hiding the fish in their socks! All you had to do, since you had a months notice, was put a boat on them for the day. I shouldn't have to tell you this. Aren't you the 97 boat tournatment director? Luke and Fred have respect. That's something you earn. Once you lose that as a TD your done.
