| Just wondering if any one local is using a SI unit in the Glades. Also do you see any benefits over a regular unit in out waters. |

Not exactly sure how it would work for you. I have one on my boat, it works great in 10 ft. of water or more. When I go south (live in tennessee), it is not very effective in 5 ft water with a lot of grass. At least has not been for me. However, the big screen and GPS are great.
Good Luck with decision. |

Don't buy the unit just for the side finder. You won't use it down here. I have the Hummingbird 997 and the problem is the water is to shallow. Even in the deep canals you would have to idle on the other shore line to try and read any cover on the other side. Also when the sun gets up in the sky it is very hard to read the side finder page unless you can find some kind of hood for the unit. This unit was designed for the deeper lakes and resovours up north. Spend your money on a Garmin. | |
