shallow water holiday parkMay 2 2009 at 7:05 AM | Junebug (no login) from IP address 74.186.140.181 |
| friday fishing the fingers and canal by 27 we saw a boat hit the shelf that is wide in spots up there. Later we went west on the alley almost to the east ramp on the north side and I hit a rock almost in the middle of the canal -
bent prop and shaft and who knows what else - no tournament for Junebug this weekend - so be aware of the low water it snuck up on me. |

Praise the Lord the water is low. Fished Holiday today and caught more 4lb+ fish on top water than I have in a long time. I can tell you this though, 85% of the fish I caught or saw looked sick. Not "dying" sick, but very unhealthy looking. Mabey this is just a normal side effect of low water. "07 was the last low water year I can remember, and the fish were bad looking then too. The bigger fish were covered in mites, like sea lice. I got bit by these in "07 and it was nasty so be careful not to handle these too much. Anyone else noticing this or am I crazy???? |

DD, were you catching those fish in the canals or in the flats or near them? Just curious. I have a friend who fished there Saturday and they said they caught 50 bass by noon but all were dinks and up to 2.5lbs. Nothing big at all. They tried top water also.
I was at the Holey lands and had terrible results Saturday.
Thanks for any help. | |
