Braided line and wind knotsMay 5 2009 at 1:03 PM | JohnBMac (no login) from IP address 98.203.29.239 |
| Over the past several months I have experimented with the two most popular braided lines, Power Pro and Sufix. To eliminate wind knots I wiped down the line through a paper towel that was sprayed with WD-40. I have had two wind knots with two of us fishing in the last 5 months, since I started this. There is no apparent change in the line and no other differences that we can detect. It almost seems the line doesn't take on water and isn't consequently performing differently than the less watered down line on the spool...maybe, anyway, it seems to reduce wind knots by over 98%...please post your results if you experiment with this concept...also I used the automatic bail feature and did not touch the bail manually...hope this works for all! |

What a hassle to keep wind knots out of your line. Can't smell too good either when the boat deck heats up. The problem you guy's are having is you are using inferior products. I've fished every braid produced, and there is a stand alone winner. STREN SONIC BRAID. No I am not a Stren rep. Just fish it once and you will believe. No wind knots and you will have to adjust your casting arm to keep the lure from going out of sight. Bass pro has it, I'd guess Walmart also. Good Luck. |

Yup, Stren SuperBraid, or SonicBraid I guess thats all BassPro has now, is the best in my opinion. Been using it for years. Seems to hold up longer than PowerPro |

try not filling your spools all the way, alittle more then 3/4 way full will elimite yor wind knots, i throw 30# on my spinning, and 50 & 65# on my baitcasters with no problem,
Also bass pro sells all the braided lines and the best seller is Power pro!
Try reverseing your line when it lookes weathered.
