What canal system are you trying to fish? 40th Street is Bird Road. The nearest canals are Snapper Creek and Tamiami Trail. Each with their own ramp(s). There are plenty of Dade boys willing help?

Ok. Snapper Creek. My club had a tourney there about 4 months ago. Not the best of sites our last two trips there. May have decent Peacock action in the summer months. BUT, note that they dredge for hydrilla in some parts. Not good for fishing!

There's a ramp behind the Fall's Shopping Center (SW 136th St off US1 behind Bloomingdales). Very good Peacock fishing there.

You could make it to the Airport Lakes but it will take a while with all the bridges. You can see on a map how distant the Snapper Creek Ramp is from the Airport Lakes. The ramp you may see from the 836 is at the Antonio Maceo Park 2 miles off LeJeune Road on NW 7th ST. Although it is an excellent ramp and dock, beware of Vandals. We have not fished the Airport Lakes in years because of an incident there. What a shame.
