Well, I have'ng been bashed enough lately, so I'll post here once again !!! This is important, as I have taken on another challenge to get the pond opened to the public!!!
Before 9/11 the United Way held 4 --2 day fishing opportunities on the Martin county Power Plant cooling pond, it had been closed for security reasons. I have found out that some restrictions in the area have been lifted, and this may open the door to fishing once again. Please take the time to write a letter to Mr. Nick Blount, 1401 S.E. Monterey Stuart, Fl 34995 asking him to consider opening up the pond to fishing once again. If enough letters are written they may conceed,as environmentalists got them to open up the Barley Barbere Swamp to tours once again. The Barley Barber swamp in on the same property. This was once a great fishery, and can be again with proper management.
Please no bashing, just write a letter, do somehing useful !!!

Thanks, this is what we need, if enough guys write, it will happen. I'm meeting with FWC this weekend in Orlando and will bring the subject up once again, This is touchy with the FWC as it's private water.

I have mailed several formal letter to Nick Blount at the Plant as well as Ms. Sandra Anderson at the United Way over the years about the status of access to the cooling pond. Thanks Castoff for the contact information you gave me on the BBC last year. I finally received a reply from Mr. Blount a few weeks ago. This one to a letter I did at the beginning of the year. It does appear from his response that consideration is being given to opening it up for fishing again. I will find my letter and reply and post some time soon.

This Would be great news. I encourage all of the bass clubs to draft a letter and have all club members sign it. This is a fishing location that everyone should experiance at least once. The Margate Big Reel Bassmasters will be sending a letter. P.S. Thanks to everyone that showed up for the Ghost. We drew over 50 boats in an economy that is worse than I have ever seen before. Thanks

I think that individual communication with the Cooling Plant would be more effective. Petition Letters are deemed a cop-out by many organizations. Castoff, I tried to access www.sfanglers to get some contact email for you today and could not get through. I would like to send you a copy of my letter to Mr. Blount (and his reply letter if I could find it).
