About a year ago our house was extended with the adition of 2 bedroom upstairs - formerly a bungalow.
We have a big problem with flies; I think they are cluster flies. There is a lot of glass in the bedrooms (we overlook the sea), blinds are white and rooms painted in white. Depite closing all windows and doors we can have 10 -20 flies a day in the room facing the sun. Outside, hundreds of flies can be seen sunbathing on the white walls. We have fancy light fittings and think that the flies must get in through the air vents in the cavity wall and up to the loft space. The flies can then get down through the light fittings and into the room. As soon as they do they try to get out the windows! I have noticed some dead young flies in the light fittings.
Please help.
Do I
1. screen the airvents?
2. seal all access to light fittings?
3. Get dark blinds?
4. Paint rooms in darker colour?
What else can we do, particularly outside the house.
We have lived in the hoise for 8 years but it is only since the extension was done that the problem.
