I keep finding small brown bugs around the house. They're like brown ladybirds, but smaller - sometimes with speckles. Usually they're dead or playing dead and their favourite place to hang out or go to die seems to be the basket of clean washing that's waiting to be ironed. Yuk. They also appreciate other fabrics such as towels, curtains etc. Any ideas? Thanks.

It sounds a bit like Varied Carpet Beetle, these insects are Textile Pests and are found eating at natural materials. They are often carried into the house on in birds feathers whilst they are nesting in the loft, the area beneath the loft hatch is a good place to check. If you would like drop me an E mail and I can scan and send you a picture of one.If you confirm it is carpet beetle I can advise you on what action should be taken.
