Bruce Lee showed a good example when he told the character Braithwaite, "no", after the latter asked the former if he wanted an alcoholic drink at the beginning of Enter the Dragon.
In his second & last negative reply to Braithwaite, Bruce says, louder this time, looking humourously disturbed, "NO THANKS!!!"
Jet Li carries on Bruce's torch of not showing drinking and smoking on the movie screen. To do so, would tarnish the hero's image and encourage chidren to take up dangerous habits and stuff--even a little bit of, can hurt the lungs and liver. Jet Li did so in movies like "War" and "Kiss of the Dragon."
"In Strinking Thoughts: Bruce's Lee's Wisdom for Daily Living," Bruce say's (I'm paraphrasing):
"--As for smoking, I don't that why putting smoke into one's lungs is the good thing to do, I don't drink alcohol, I hate the taste of the stuff..."
Now, if you people out there have a smoking or alcohol addiction that you want to quit(I know a Taekwondo Sabonym who smokes light cigarettes), think on these above words and whenever you have a craving, carryout the Asian relaxation tactic of deep breathing and exhaling one deep breath. When you do that particular "one deep breath exhale" think of actually pushing out the toxins and warding off the cravings with the exhale and the breath that accompanies it. Also, drink a lot of water. Good Luck.
