Recording from Reality - would it be possible?

I've got a really stupid question here, but I'm wondering what you think:

If I bring a video camera into Metropolis and filmed, what would I see when I edited the film afterwards?

Would I see Metropolis, or would I just see building skylights of cities from the Illusion???

Thoughts?
