downward spirals and gaia

"In my version we had become prisoners consciously or subconciously attempt to stop the downward spiral into the void, Achlys. Why is it that humanity strives toward its own destruction. Do we not see echoes of this in the unawakened within the prison. Is it that we are compelled to perpetuate a destruction/creation cycle (ala the big bang)and to what end? To create a more perfect universe."

I have never liked the idea of Gaia, the wilderness feels too much Werewolf the Environmentalists to really fit with the urban industrial horror of Kult, but come to think of it, perhaps Gaia might be the Id of the collective uncounsciouss. In my kultiverse gaia would therefore be the wild beast driving humanity in its downward spiral towards Achlyss.

I guess my kult is the story of universal psychosis. The ravaging beast drives the splintered individual counscioussneses at each others throats and forcing the superego to enforce drakonian order at the expence of the rational counscioussneses knowing their own true nature.

Its nice to speculate about cosmological questions as these but sad enough i've always felt that its nearly impossible, at least for my self, to reach these depths in actual gaming. Its like in Call of Cthulhu, its ok to catch a glance of the horrors of the universe but you wouldnt like the stars to be right during gameplay. Some things where never meant to be played by mankind...
