True pawn of Tipareth

by The Mystery Machine

Actually i still havent had a chance to see his latest(being Mulholland Drive) but i must stand in defence of one of my favorite artists.
I adore the sense of bizarre in david lynch's filmography and i am most probably not the only one who does (after all evreyone here loves "tetsuo").David Lynch is extremely visional,he is actually not a narrator at all, which may be the reason that you don't like his alogicism.Lynch is actually a sculptor turned movie creator and his original artistic passion is always evident on the screen.Last saturday i watched Dune again at afriends house, but without the sound.Instead i put on suggestive music and just enjoyed the visual aspect of a movie that collapses when it comes to narrative structure...i never loved that movie so much (especially the Barons quarters are a manifesto to surrealism).
Must i truly mention "Eraserhead"?One of my favorite movies of all time and which most puts in evidence the central thematic of his work:"Initial creation and ultimate destruction" immersed in a world of madness where reason mutates and wails...but only to the eyes of the spectator. While the characters walk around this nightmare without a stumble.
I actually respect your opinion and am sad that you do not enjoy lynch as much as me and my friends do (of whom all that have seen "Mulholland drive" enthusiastically consider it his best). His is truly aesthetism without a reason, uncaused creation of folly.
But art in its purest sense is just that.
