ACE=Poor Fitting Parts and unclear Directions!

Subject: ACE Kits

Hello Mike-

Well I got to working with the ACE kits.
I cannot assemble them. There are way too many gaps, parts too wide, unclear instructions, etc. The glue melts the parts too much so I wound up with a gooey mess.

I couldn't use the gun on the BMP. It was flat, kind of like a waterhose, and the Maljutka missile is too poor. Due to unclear instructions, I glued the side skirts in an incorrect location and had to tear them off to reposition.

The MT-LB's lower hull went together only with a lot of filing and carving. The front bottom plate does not fit at all.

Frankly, they're too much trouble to work with.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Matt.

To clear this up-

I got these kits from Mike for review purposes. My negative experience has not turned me off to ACE. Alexey's trying his best to get these things out, and I applaud that. Who else includes a fret of PE and such nice decals with varied nationalities? I understand as well that these are limited run kits. Mine are probably more recent, so this is likely the reason I had problems.

Alexey's making some great strides in the 1/72 field. He's the first to make an injection molded T-55 and BMP (and I'm sure others) in this scale.

Basically what I'm saying is you're getting better Alexey. All one has to do is compare the BMP to the MT-LB or 2S1.

Keep on keeping on!

Thanks,
Matt.

With a little scratchbuilding work, getting the vehicles up to par shouldn't be much of a problem. The BMP is something I've wanted to model for a long time, and this is my first opportunity.

Thanks for the kits, Mike and Alexey.

Thanks,
Matt.

Too Bad Alexey has Failed to take Notice and revisit his Older Kits and make them Better. Instead of this Preoccupation with trying to come out with New Kits, which are Rushed and they show it!

You never could read and listen to what I told You...
Who told You I never revisit older kits?
Check first and later BRDMs and You'll see a difference (You don't have time to do this? You can only critisize....)
Soon BRDMs will be upgraded once again (see messages about this below in this DG).
Other models are also under upgrade process and when I'll be ready I'll show this to all.
As for You Mike: It looks like I asked You not to post to this DG. I know You did read this because I have seen Your response. And what's then?
Again for all: Am happy to answer to modellers questions BUT I don't have time to explain the same thing again and again to Mike Dunlap.

Sincerely, Alexey.
