I have a 350 S10 and would love to take it to Milan, but before I go what do I need to know? I looked at the rules here on the site but Im more curious about cost, and the tech inspection.
What will the tech's be looking for? At the moment I do not have rear brakes (rear line burst), will I be not allowed to run because of this?
Im not interested in doing any bracket races or anything (at the moment), I would really just like to do a couple of passes to see what my baby can do.
Any tips or heads up would be greatly appreciated. Oh, and when does the track close for the season if its not already closed?'
well I would fix the brake line.make sure you have a over flow for the rad,Battery can't move around, all your lug nuts are on,And most of all have fun and be safe!!!
I am pretty iffy about doing anything without the rear brakes, although if they would allow me I probably would do atleast one pass without them. The only reason I even considered running without was because, correct me if Im wrong, but 80% of "braking power" comes from the front brakes. It would be stupid to run without them, but oh well.
Hopefully I'll make it up there pretty soon, right after I replace my brake line.

No Rear Brakes?
October 28 2007, 3:22 PM
Fix the brake line. Don't even think about trying to run without fixing it. It's not worth it. Besides, it's a cheap fix. About ten bucks for a line and maybe a pint or two of fluid.
20 bucks for test and tune.
You must have a battery hold down.
You must have two throttle return springs.
You must have a coolant over flow bottle.
Lug nuts must be exposed, ie no hubcaps.
You must have all lugs and nuts.
YOU MUST HAVE REAR BRAKS. They won't know it but do yourself a favor. Fix em. Your first time out to a track it's easy to misjudge the finish line. I'd hate to see you go into the sand because you didn't have enough braking power. Another issue is that if you had to stab the brakes and only had fronts, it could very easily send you into the wall. That would suck badly.
Good luck,
Wayne

Geeeee Wayne your no fun. lol lol lol . seriously I'm wearing a hard neck collar from a wreck because the other guys brakes went out. and forced me into the wall. may not race again. 2 broken vertabra and a partly severed spineial cord just because someone thought safety cost to much. See Ya next year im the one that looks like he's got a stove pipe around his neck lol lol.. maybe i can get my kid to run the predator truck.
I am definately going to get them fixed. I never planned on running without the rear brakes unless someone were to tell me its not a big deal to run without. Hence the 80% comment.
I was thinking about other things I may need to fix, and just remembered a busted a wheel stud. Gotta get that fixed too. Brake booster is out also. I'm sure that no brake booster will also be a problem.
Seems like I'll take a run next year, money is tight and brake boosters are expensive for a college student.
Thanks again for the information guys.
Any tips for launching? I got nervous when I was launching at the school (practice launch pad), any advice anyone has for getting rid of those heeby geebies before the Green would be appreciated also.
yes I do have fun,and for your first run take it slow and get use to the track and the lights,It gets better the more runs you make. just have fun and be safe about it to,break booster, what year and kinda ride do you have? maybe some one may have one and let it go cheep or even free?
