in all the programs i've seen have been with heads up series I.E nmra...nmca and things of that nature that don't really have dragsters or open bodies. So this question will only be answered when they release the rules. Personally if they allow open bodies or dragsters, i hope they make it two seperate classes. If not, fair game, won't stop me from being there
Roger
I agree with Roger. Like the NMCA & NMRA you don't see dragsters. One of the rules that is in there hand book "Spindle Mount Wheels Prohibited" I believe most of the dragster will not qualify for this & also most dragster's run faster than 8.60. If a guy has a dragster that runs slower than 8.60 then why bother.
Also i believe most OC rules are 15.99 to 9.10. If you look at NMRA rules there's no cross overs or delay boxes, and i'm sure most dragsters have them, so it would be too much pain in the @$$ to police all that as well. Also no air or hydrolic shifters, another pain to regulate.
Why is it everything outside of brackets has to have rules to keep my old fashion full chassis, big tire car on the trailer. I was really looking forward to another class I could race in but my Chevelle has spindle mounts so if this becomes a rule for Milan's OC class then I'm on the outside...again.
If rules like this are just a way of dancing around saying "no dragsters" then we might want to consider that rails aren't the only one's with spindle mounts. Couldn't we find a way to allow all door cars into OC no matter what they consist of? I don't care either way whether the OC class has dragsters/altered's in it but please leave "no spindle mounts" out of the rules. I just don't see why that matters. If you don't want dragsters then why not just say that?
We have been arguing the dragster facts for a couple years now. Milan does not want dragsters on a Friday night as well as SOME fans. First it was they were going to have enough cars and no longer needed them. Then car counts were down. Then it was the show is to long and needs to be shortened(bring in Scooter Trash *Pointless*). Here we are at another irony "no time" for a show "Add a class".
Then you have the if you have a dragster race in a bracket class. I guess I never got the memo on dragsters are only bracket cars. Someone please inform IHRA and NHRA that Top Fuel needs to be bracket next year. Oh and while we are at it add a "heads up" bracket class.
All I will say is look at the stands from year one to now. Not saying it was dragsters that did it but... The show is lacking!
"Anyone can build a fast dragster" Tried your hand and dollar at it and let me know how you do...
On the flip side:
Sounds like a fun class to race not to watch.
I agree, the excuses we keep getting regarding the exclusion of any and all open wheeled race craft is getting tired. I still haven't heard or read any justifialble reason for this exclusion. Even the on line poll that was done on this site two seasons ago reflected an opinion IN FAVOR of open wheeled race craft. Maybe, if a Dragster Building Sponsor got involved we might see this change. Sponsorship is very important.
I have nothing against spindle mounts! I would love to see it an all door car class though...come to think of it why limit it to no spindle mounts? Never understood that rule!
