Noob questions

Hey all,

I just came on here to get some questions answered and receive any tips. I would like to come out to the track and race, however I have never been to a drag strip before. I read up on how to stage the car ect....however I have no idea how things go on behind the scenes (paying, where you get your car in line, how you enter the staging area, where you go after your run ect.).

I did a little research and if I am reading things correctly, the "open" night is every Wednesday, and its $25 to get in.

I have a 2007 MazdaSpeed 3, small things done to it...but nothing illegal (performance wise, Short ram intake, stiffer rear motor mount). Stock tests show this car doing very low 14s on quarter mile, and I saw that if your under 14 you must wear a snell 90 helmet. Would a DOT approved motorcycle helmet be sufficient? Thought I should bring one incase I get some really good runs in and find myself close to breaking 14.

If you could point me in the direction of some online articles to read, or answer my questions with some tips and hints I would really appreciate it. I rather learn things now rather then heading up there and finding out the hard way by people yellin at me when I do something wrong

Just go to the track and watch a few cars run. Walk around the pits and ask some racers what to do. I don't think they are too picky on helmets on slower cars. The motorcycle helmet doesn't have a fire resitant material inside it, that might be of a concern if you were running nitrous.
