First off I would like to thank all of you for showing your preferance. Now if we could get you all there, we would have a great race. It is clear that the majority of the No Box racers prefer the 1/4 mile. So we will not make the change for that class. It will remain 1/4 for No Box.

Lets get a little more input from the Box racers and go from there.

1/8th

May 20 2008, 10:38 PM

Chris, I did put in my .02 because do race here just not in the points this year but we have in the past. I will say that if this track goes 1/8th mile for the box cars we will run points again, If not we will see. I do like the fact that your thinking about it. If your looking for more detail e-mail me and I'll send it that way.

Now, it would be interesting to see how many voted multiple times and how many that voted don't even race on Saturday.... or Sunday for that matter.

Wow that sure is alot of votes, when was the last time the track had 150+ racers on a Sat nite?
If we had 150+ racers then we'd have to race 1/8 to get it in, it doesn't matter, as long as we get the CHANCE to BE THERE and RACE!! Ain't nothing better than DRAG RACING any length!!

Thanks for the chance to vote. I'm just not sure if the input is coming from the real racers. There seems to be to many votes. Box is up to 77 votes. Looks like the want-to-be's are getting in the way.

BTW... I voted for 1/8 mile on Saturday.

Voting

May 21 2008, 11:32 AM

Chris, first off thanks for giving us the opportunity to vote. Its nice to know you guys care about what the racers think. However, I'm pretty sure a lot of the people that voted probably are not Saturday regulars. I think you guys should do another poll but this time have the people put in their names, and we'll see how many of those voters actually raced the last 3 or 4 Saturdays. Just my opinion.

It would be more of a legal/legit vote if a new vote is counted when we buy our next Saterday race entry. It could be done right when we pay our money at the gate.

Just have the teller ask each racer who pays at the gate a simple question, 1/8 or 1/4 ?

Or have the racers write 1/4 or 1/8 mile on the entry form/tech card. This would be the best way to get the best information from the real racers.

That way the vote is fair and is strictly based on the people who race on Saterday.

1/4or1/8

May 21 2008, 12:31 PM

First off.. I'm not a want-to-be. How do you know who's a "Want-to-be"and who is not? BTW I voted for 1/4 because my car is built for one thing..speed!

Bottom line Chris.. We'll do what ever it takes to get the car count's up and keep the gate's open. You might want consider polling everyone coming through the gate's that day. That would mix things up.

Bottom line

May 21 2008, 2:38 PM

The "bottom line" is, they are trying to find out why Saturday car counts are so low. So the question they should be asking is, "why aren't people showing up on Sat?" Personally, my job requires me to work until 3 on Saturdays now, So I am screwed. But, let these guys know why you don't race Sat. Is it financial? Let them know! Wife kickin' your butt for racing too much? Let them know! Pissed about not having a Sat. points series? Let them know! Instead of fighting about how long the race is.... JMO...

Saturdays

May 22 2008, 8:41 AM

I have chosen not to race as much on Satudays is beacause the program has too many classes in it and a track rental sometimes also. It makes the day just a "Hurry up and wait" day. With such little seat time as it is in our sport and to go 2-3 hours beetween passes it's just no fun. Also you still have to drive all the way to the end to turn off. And if I remember it is about the FUN! It's not that I am the best racer or ever want to be, I just want to enjoy my Day and my Hobby and not be bored. If I ever win that's a bonus! Build a 1/8 track at the old Sand Drag area?

Not all who voted are there every single week. If you count how many different cars on Saturdays there are in any given month it’ll be more than the number who voted. I will see a different set of cars every time I go, there will be the regulars, but there are old friends I might only see twice in a year because they’ll race on a different day or track. I’m sure most of the votes are from those who race at least occasionally at Milan otherwise I don’t think they’d be coming to the board. Maybe those of us who can’t make it every single week don’t count. I don’t think you can vote more than once anyhow.

The weather has been pretty dismal and at 8 mpg it doesn’t make sense for us to tow across three counties not knowing if weather would allow for a full race day. In my case the car’s been broke since late October, (after 23 years of racing I’ve earned slowing down a bit) so no I haven’t been there yet this year, or any track for that matter, though we’re now ready to go. You see me there about half a dozen times each year, almost all of them on Saturdays, if I were closer it’d be more. I started racing on my own in 1985, seven or eight of those years in points (elsewhere) including a championship. Even raced ten days after surgery bandaged up because I could get in the car lol. You can take my vote off and it won’t make any difference. Though all the runs I made at Milan over the last two decades should count for something. Hopefully I still have a couple decades left. I’ll still be there 660 or 1320 though I prefer the latter: more mph= more fun. I’m thankful that we are given this chance but there sure is a lot of hostility towards those putting in their opinion.

Maybe drag racing should be standardized to 1000 feet. Then there will be no arguing about 1/8 or 1/4 since this is middle ground. Nah I don’t like it either. Here come the attacks lol.

Thank you, Chris for this opportunity. See you very soon if all goes well!

Best wishes to you all. Too many hard lessons tell you never know what tomorrow will bring.

I think the saturday program may need a little bit of advertisement. I have been goin to Milan for over 6 years now, and i know lots of people who could be potential racers that do not know about saturday racing.

Advertise it, and spice it up a little bit, and i think turnouts would be better.

just my 2 cents.

I gotta agree with Danielle on the whole voting issue. Not to discriminate but there are alot of "test and tuners" on here voting and not actually racers that are there to race. With the car count so low it would only be smart to race eighth mile. I suck at 1/4 and 1/8 so why not get it over sooner. I still get the same thrill going to the 1/8 as the 1/4
