1O.5 FULL CHASSIS RULE IS UN FAIR

I DONT COMPLAIN AND IT GETS NOTHING DONE BUT I HAVE TO VENT. CHANGING THE RULE IN 10.5 OUTLAW TO LET FULL TUBE CHASSIS CARS IN THE MIX IS UNFAIR BECAUSE THOSE OF US THAT HAVE SPENT THE MONEY ON OUR CARS TO MEET THE RULES ARE AT AN UNFAIR ADVANTAGE 1 BECAUSE MOST CAN NOT MEET THE LOW WEIGHT BREAK IN THE ORIGINAL FORMAT I E STOCK FIRE WALL ETC. 2 BECAUSE A FULL TUBE CHASSIS IS JUST MORE EFFICIENT COMPARED TO ORIGINAL FORMAT BOLT ON FRONT END ETC . YA THE DAN MILLINS AND GREG BLEVINS ARE OUT THERE AND THATS FINE BUT AT LEAST THEY MAKE THE RULES EVERY BODY ELSE IN THE COUNTRY DOES NOT JUST A SPUR OF THE MOMENT RULE CHANGE TO INCREASE CAR COUNT. AND YA PEOPLE SAY IF YOU WANT TO RUN WITH THE BIG DOGS SPEND THE MONEY ON CARBON FIBER ETC BUT I THOUGHT THIS CLASS WAS MADE FOR YOU AND ME HARD WORKING MOTOR HEADS THAT LOVE THE SPORT IF THE BIG DOGS WANT TO BATTLE IT OUT WITH BIG BANK ACCOUNTS THEN GO WHERE THE BIG MONEY RACES ARE . AND REALLY PROVE YOUR SELF. BUT I KNOW THIS IS NOT GOOD FOR CAR COUNT OR HUGE ETS THAT DRAW THE CROWDS. BUT ITS JUST A THOUGHT [DEAN PARKER]

Re: 1O.5 FULL CHASSIS RULE IS UN FAIR

I agree 100% I bought a car last year to run O/S and I almost have it done. Last month I figured I would come up to Milan for the first time ever to check it out and see what kind of times I would have to run to be competitive and to my suprise I saw and ex pro stock car in the field. Like you I can never afford to go 6.80's but I thought if I can go 8.0's I can atleast be competitive, you never know when a turbo car is gonna make a good pass. But a pro stock car no way when they only have to weigh 2675 and you could probably drive those cars from the stands with a computer. The one good thing is the amount of people that show up to watch the race and the different classes running that night it's a great show for the fans. I will probably haul my car up there next month to see what happens maybe if enough cars show up that fit the real rules maybe things will change but I'm not holding my breath, if they continue to allow chassis cars maybe they should do what Norwalk does and don't allow any power adders just my .02 thanks for the space Milan Jay

Re: 1O.5 FULL CHASSIS RULE IS UN FAIR

First let me say that I didn't agree that the rules where changed to allow chassis cars in Outlaw last year. But that is water under the bridge by now.

Why didn't anyone complain last year when the rules where changed to let in chassis cars? Did anyone think to say something at that time? Surely everyone new that someone would build a car around the class rules.

Was it fair that I raced my car in Outlaw 10.5" last year 1000 lbs over weight?
Answer: Hell yes it was fair, my car was built for a different class. Was I at a disadvantage? Yes.

How do you think Chris C. With the Hemi truck feels? He is also at a disadvantage against your Chevy II. But that is the rules. Either you can, can't or don't want to build a car to the rules doesn't justify the rules to be changed around a car that is already built.

Keep in mind NMRA SSO cars run 7.40’S with 28”X 10.5” slick with notched stock rear frame rails. So what I am saying is if the right cars and or people show up it will take a well sorted out car to win anyways. The time has past for a high 7 second car to win in the class. I think most of us realized that last year.

You can't have your cake and eat it too! If they should go somewhere else to race and prove them selves, maybe you should do the same. It does sound ruff when it is directed towards you. Does it not?

All that being said "life is not fair" and we all need to understand that. You can not fault someone for building a car to the rules for a class that you race in.

Re: 1O.5 FULL CHASSIS RULE IS UN FAIR

Hello my name is Fred Grove ( the owner of the ex- pro stock car ) I find it hard to believe the whinning thats going on about this car. Is it because it's a old pro stocker because it surley isn't how fast it is. Since when has OUTLAW 10.5 been an low 8 or high 7 field anywhere. The car is an OLD PROSTOCKER that didn't do shit in NHRA. It's not like it's Allen Johnson 's or Jegs car. The Fact is there isn't much difference between a COMPETITIVE OUTLAW car and Mine. Would you like me to Fabricate a shock tower and put in a Firewall ? It acn be done. If a car Certs for 6.0 it's certs for 6.0 they both are then hand fabricated. My car certainly cost ALOT less than if I had a built a car like Millens or the next guys, Thats why I did it. If you think a computer can drive my car you are clueless, You obviously don't know to much. Milan hasn't had to many full OUTLAW Classes until this year. What fun is it for the Fans to watch a 8 car filed. The Fact is, My car is not that Fast, it is brand new for us and my driving is less than steller to say the least. We are out there for the Fun of it like anyone else. Had the last race not been rained out I surley would have gotten my ass handed to me by millen and even my Buddy Jeannie. Remember I was only the 3rd best qualifer not # 1. At this stage of the game anyone could win so quite crying and come and give it a try. I think that you whinners should show up to the next rules meeting @ the end of the year and maybee you should ask Milan for A BABY OUTLAW 10.5 class because you surley can't be serious about OUTLAW 10.5 being a low 8 to high 7 field. That would be SLOWEST OUTLAW class in the country. They have a new OPEN COMP class for the people who don't fit a specific class or feel that they are not competitive enough for a specific class. Or maybee some of you should look for an old tube chassis and save some money. and go FASTER.

Re: You Got Guts

Dan, Let me 1st off start with, My point was directed to ALL the people that have been whinning about my car not just one person. This was not the 1st post on this subject, just the 1st I have responded to. 2nd put up your monthly Salary because it seems you really don't know me, I would not be affraid to say that to anyone period. Third, your right I don't personally know Dean Parker and I'm sure he is a great Guy and he certainly has a nice Hot Rod but if Dean or anyone else can comlain about my car which by the way fits the rules than why shouldn't I be able to speak my mind or defend it ? That being said, This is not about who's tough or not it is just some RACERS speaking there mind. No biggie, I was just wanting to know if the complaining was because it was an old pro stock because as I said it surley isn't how FAST it is. The class has twice as many cars now and not all the tube chassis's are the fastest. The rule change simply allowed for more cars to fit and have a good showing for the fans. I would say Milan did the right thing to get the car count up for a class that was dying @ MILAN. By the way I did attend the RULES meeting last Fall and built a car around the rules as do most competitive racers and I would have done if differently if the rules had been different. All I did was maximize the rules just as the TOP ALL MOTOR guys and DRAG RADIAL guys do. See everyone @ the next Race, just remember anything can happen.

10.5 Cars

June 21 2008, 9:58 PM

Dean is my son-in-law, yeah, I am the old man that helps my kids out.

Interesting scenerios about the 10.5 Outlaw class.

I think we will be a 7.80 -7.90 the entire season at 3175lbs. With our little motor.

Whatever it is , it is.

I guess we will have too put a little more work into the Orange Pumpkin and see if we can play catchup with the top dogs in the class.

It's gives us a little more incentive to step the ole Nova up a tad for next year.

I know and hope that no one is making gestures towards Dean. Dean is a pleasant gentleman, I know, because he married my daughter. Also, Milan Dragway has been so good to the Kids. YOU have too deal with the ole man first before Dean.

I am very proud of the Management of Milan Dragway too see that Marketing and Promotions that go into putting on a top notch show. I hope they can hit there financial numbers this year. We need to promote this place so they can continue to make improvements.

We all have too be thankful for our Freedom in America to enjoy opportunities like we have, to go to a place like Milan Dragway to have fellowship, fun, and competition.

Fred Groves, hell I have known him since Christ was a Corporal. Fred will give you a good deal to any racer that wants trailers, 4-wheelers, cycles, and sleds. Won't You FRED! I just put him on the spot. Tell him you want the stuff for COST or INVOICE.

Guys/Gals, just be careful that you don't price yourself right out of this class. I seen it In snowmobile Drag Racing and it has been hit hard with small numbers showing up too race. The Economy is in the Toliet and the Fuel Prices are outrageous along with Record Unemployment.

Nice Forum.

Dad

PS: Freddie, I am bringing the 1000 Snowmobile to Milan very shortly.

Re: 10.5 Cars

Hey, Phil you know I will take care of any Racer that should ever need anything that we sell. It has been nice seeing you @ the track. You are correct that Milan sure has a nice deal going for the Heads up night.I hope it continues to grow for Us the Racers and Milan. I will make an appoint to come and meet your son-nlaw Dean @ the next Race, Dean I hear your a pretty stand up guy, look forward to meeting you. I certainly have no hard feelings with him or anyone else on this topic. I just want everyone to keep in mind that I attended thr rules meeting last year and built a car around the rules. I would be seriously upset if they changed that to slow the class down or take me out. If you really think about it, it was the cheaper way for me to go along with other racers to get the car count up. Hope everything works out on your sled looking forward to seeing it run. Maybee they will allow sled's in outlaw. As always if you need anything give me a call. 517-204-4944
