Well SMP has out done themselves. LIMIT car count on the CLASSIC??????? WOW!!!!
I'm thinkin' Milan should have themselves a good ol 3 day race like a box or no box type format with a wheelie contest on Sat night. The michigan boys simply have some killer wheel standers anyway.Heck maybe even a quick 16 and some heads up???? How 'bout some open comp??? Come on guys/gals lets hear what you think anyone up for it????? I'd do it. ---------------Spankr
Well I sent Bill Jr and Sr and e-mail about the car count, I agree or understand everything else. Maybe if more people voiced their opinion about the changes it will make a difference, they state in the article its not written in stone and my dealing with them in the past has always been to listen to everyone and make a good decision. I have seen in the pasrt they have reversed or changed things they had put in place.

Re: Halloween Classic or not????

I'd much rather spend a 3 day week end at my home track (Milan)
I'm sure if MD had a simular event most of those, from Michigan, that go to the Halloween Nats would choose to stay in Michigan instead. Myself and others I've spoken with would love to see an OPEN WHEELED "HEADS UP" class, eight cars, sixteen cars, it doesn't matter just try it !!! If it worked out, this would fit in to the "Heads Up" night better than a bracket class does... Open Comp might just be "what the doctor odered" to salvage the Saturday program...

I think that Milan Dragway "has" the basis for a great "Halloween", "End of Season" event. That is the "Frost Bite Nationals" Simply move it to early to mid October, and add a Halloween theme. (Besides shouldn't "frostbite" be when it's a bit colder anyway.)
Make it a 3 day event,to start. The pay out is already $2500 to win each day. Add a wheelstanding event, or just ask the Heads-up "Drag Radial" guys to come, wheelstands don't get much better than those guys (ex. Friday Night !)
Maybe a big bonfire and Wes Buckley brings the beer!
i love it! lets do it all wek just like norwalk. i would deffinately be there. and we can do the trick or treat thing for the kids too. i alredy have teh vacation time off for norwalk, i was not aware of the car limit!what a joke...
Mian, this is your big chance to take advantage of this.
DONT SIT ON IT!
Ok sounds like some great input. How about swapping weekends. Lets make the Frostbite on 10/17-10/19. Say a gamblers race on Friday Night and how about maybe a bon-fire Sat/ after a wheelie contest?????? and yer racing for 2500.00 pr day on Sat/Sun. Let us in Thursday night???????? Plenty of time for folks to get a day off or for the ones that already have the time off. Chris if you need some help I'd be more than willing to lend a hand in anyway that I could to make this happen for you guys. Please lets give this some consideration and let's have big ol' end of the year race.............. ok PARTY. ---------

Latest News from Summit Motorsports ParkImportant Update To The Halloween Classic September 8, 2008
Thanks to all of you who either wrote or phoned us regarding the changes we have planned for the upcoming Classic. That you took the time to express your thoughts and concerns was of great importance.
After speaking with a number of you, we saw that limiting the number of entries could be a real hardship – one that could dampen the spirit of the race for everyone. We understand your very real concern that some of you would get in the race, but your friends or family may not.
Consequently, we have decided to lift the limit of 1000 cars immediately, and for future Classics, thereby opening the race up to whoever wishes to attend.
Other than lifting the 1000 car limit, nothing else will change. As a reminder;
A driver can only enter one car.
The 12 hour internet signup on Sept. 22 will remain, via our website (www.summitmotorsportspark.com)
If you don’t have a computer, or a friend who can sign you up, you can phone our office (419-668-5555) from 12:00 noon to 8:00 pm on Sept. 22, and we’ll sign you up.
As per the original letter, we will draw for the gamblers race spots on Sept. 27.
If you have additional questions, visit our website, phone, or email us at; debbader@summitmotorsportspark.com.
In closing, we recognize that you contacted us because you care. Thank you for that. It means more to us than you realize!
why cant baxter be a race promoter like david hance. look at the shakedown all the best cars in the country will be there we need a race here like that . do you how much cars would come here and race a shit load i promise you that and he wont even do match races look what hance put together glidden vs lynch they dont get any better then those 2 they are the best and the fastest in outlaw period. so lets all get on baxter and bring a big race here the best dragstrip in michigan by far so does anyone agree with me or not ?
The rules for the classic have been updated, the car count limit has been removed. I mentioned before the Bader's are not unreasonable, I, along with several others wrote them e-mails expressing our dis-likes and they made changes. Maybe instead of everyone coming on here complaining, write the Bader's a e-mail. They cant fix it, if they dont know its a problem.
Well good for the Baders that they now have no limit on car count for the Norwalk Raceway Park Halloween Classic. But if you read that they will not allow rigs into the park untill Sunday. Could still have the Frostbite moved to the 17-19 weekend.... Come on Chris tell us yer thoughts or any issues that you may have for making the switch of weekends. -----------------Spankr

Thanks for all of the input. We are looking at the ups and downs to try and make the best decision. We are really interested in doing a multiple day race, with lots of activities. We will keep you posted.
Chris check out the race bunker hill has on oct 3rd thru 5th. great format reasonable entry fee gives racers multiple chances to win money. have attended a few of these and can at least win some money with out having to win or r/u. put together a race not a circus will bring 2 cars.
How about a spot to sell cars, trucks bikes,& snowmobiles & a swapmeet for all the same, see if some bands might play .something to do in between rounds.....maybe some match racing ,nitro cars, gassers etc.
