16 CAR since fields I know their are a lot of tracks starting to put this class in that is why I also said 9.50 class I ran 9.20s with a bracket motor 514 ford nothing special stock block....
Why would Milan want to change a class that has the most car turn out? It helps pay for the purses of the other classes where the car count is not as high. This class always has 30++ cars on Friday nite. I think majority of the cars in OC are in a 10 sec zone.
Because the racing would be closer all the way down the track...and their would be no dial in... makes the program go quicker...you know they could also make slower index's... with the weather in the spring and the fall I don't like running with the dew on the track at 160 mph+ it can get a little hairy at 2.00 a.m. in the morning ...
Well then don't race... After reading these message boards it seems like milan would have 50 some different classes with one or two different cars in them, with the input on here. There's racing available just show up and race...
You don't have to worry about dew at Milan so no worry there. In case you have not raced there the track has to be done racing by midnite so 2am is unrealistic. I dont think Milan would fill a 16 car feild if the index was 9.00 to 9.50 in O/C.
In 2009 I think both open comp and some other heads up index classes would work, If open comp and some other new classes were to move to sat maybe sat would have car count again. Open up open comp to 64 cars. Have some classes for fast cars also of some kind. I think if open comp was on sat it could be big but it may take a sponsor to kick in some stuff and a points program
the idea of runnin in the heads up program is nice cause uyou get the same track prep as the fast cars. plus we help kill time in between rounds,so that the guys can get a longer turn around time. think about you would have a bunch of people sitting there staring at the sky, milan does't want that thats why the class was added!
The idea of adding a filler to the program is understood. Adding one or more new "Heads Up" class would effectively accomplish the same thing; more time between class calls, while staying with the "Heads Up" format. Seriously, take the time to sit in the stands with the customers and gain a first hand observation of the discontentment most have with a bracket class racing on "Heads Up" night. The customers are there to watch fast cars doing "Heads Up" racing. I'm not saying do away with OC completely, I feel it could work very well on Saturdays as a points series and grow in numbers to inhance the Saturday program.
I agree with Kirby, open comp is a great class that draws a good car count, move it to Saturday and open it up to more car$. More cars = bigger pay-out, bigger pay-out = more car$, a points program would probably seal the deal. How about throwing the open wheeled customers a bone and have an OPEN WHEELED HEADS UP CLASS, a lot of them looking for a place to race, why not make it Milan? "Heads Up Night" should be "Heads Up"...
Because I know a few people that would be intrested in running an index class. I would be one of those people myself, I also know that with a full tube chassis and a meduim amount of horsepower 8.50's and 9.50's would not be far fetched and 7.50's also, big tire cars and small tire cars nitrous,supercharged,turbos.. would all be included as long as they pass tech which I think would not take long. 400 pro tree and let Them Eat..could also let the guys that don't make the cut in heads up slide over and give it a shot also.... My 2 cents worth...
