11.00 index class

February 25 2009, 9:08 PM

Chris,
The 11.00 index class is a heads up class using the open comp .500 pro tree,is that correct?I hope this is not a 11.00 break out (lowest ET allowed)open comp type class that allows all cars over 11.00 to run, thus making it just another Sunday street car class.

Dave,

.500 Pro Tree, first to the finish line without breaking out 11.00! Not at all like any other day.

Just to clarify

February 25 2009, 11:49 PM

Does this "open comp" style mean if i qualify at 11.49 I get a staggered tree with a 11.39 break out...or i get a staggered tree and it's first to teh stripe no break out, all cars run slower than 11.00. Or it's you ran the number you ran, and hope you run faster than the guy next to you without goign under 11.00

May seem like a dumb question to most, but i don't know anything about index racing!

Basically everyone has a 11.00 dial-in. Qualifying is based on closest to 11.00,

Chris,
Thanks for putting together the all new index classes. The changes in the overall format at Miland should make for a great year of drag racing.

Re: Index Classes - Basic Rules

Why not have a 500 tree for 9 and 10 indexes if you are allowing delay boxes? Anybody that is set up for no-box will have to make changes to their everyday setup to run the class on a 400 tree, launch rpm, 4-link/ladder bar, shocks, etc. (if they can). For the quicker vehicles that say they can't slow the vehicle down, a delay box is allowed anyway, just put 0.1 (or whatever it takes) in the box and have at it.

I think it just allows more people to run the class with less hassle between events. My two cents.

Tracy,

Thanks for the input. Not sure how many racers will be box or no box. .400 Pro Tree is the standard for most Heads Up racing.

Sure would have been nice to see a throttle stop allowed...

With no divisional or national events in our area, throttle stop racing is about dead now.

There goes the $700+ I spent on putting a stop and new box in the car last fall...

Chris,

I do not get out to the track as much as I would like to. but it is nice to see heads up racing. when I am there.

I am looking forward Racing as well as spending most of my spare time at the track this summer.

Re: Index Classes - Basic Rules

Chris Thanks for hearing me...

My car runs 8.80's
I wanted to run in Hot Rod 10.90...too many special built 9.90 cars at divisional and national level events

But if the index classes were mostly bracket racers racing the index, I could run in any of the 3 classes on the stop I would guess.

The throttle stop is just one more advantage in an index class. So if we allowed them, it would just be one extra thing to buy. You are always welcome to run your stop in our Top ET class or any Box class. We just have to start somewhere!

This is desinged to be an entry level series. To give test and tune and bracket cars a chance to try something different. So we left the rules open as much as possible without the use of racing aids (stops).

no throttle stops

February 26 2009, 11:36 AM

Thank you for not allowing trottle stops. In my oppinion it would kill the classes before it even started. Not many people like watching tthrottle stop racing, if any. It would also defeate the fast street car image of the clsses. You may get a few .90 racers to show up every week, But when those guys dominate over the racers without the stop you would lose car count.

Thanks again Chris, The format and rules look great! Can't wait for summer!

February 26 2009, 12:09 PM

Chris...thanks for hearing me out.

I see where you are coming from now with the indexes.

I will just have to make some adjustments to run the class...

Thanks for being creative and making new things to try in these tough times.

how abour a fixed stop that dosent open or close. sa i put my stop that i use in 10.90 but just use it to slow the car to 11.00 with out turning it on or off it would not even be pluged in. just using it as a restricter plate.

See you in the final, Wes

.400 tree

February 26 2009, 8:15 PM

Only problem with that is most cars that run 11.00 "street car" class like i hope htis turns out to be. Is that to get a stock style suspension (I.E. leaf spring and controll arms with bushings) and even mild converter foot brake car to react on a .400 tree will be difficult. Gives the guys like my self and others i know who have a trans brake and more agressive suspensions in their car a slight advantage. It's had enough to cut a light on a foot brake at 11.00 on a .500 tree let alont .400. That's just my opinion. Just looking out in the interest of the class.

11.00 index class

February 26 2009, 9:01 PM

Chris,
If trans brakes are OK for the automatic cars then 2-steps should be good for the T56(stick)cars to assist us in getting a good launch as well. Are the 2-steps good to go?

Question

February 26 2009, 11:39 PM

Hey Chris,

Thanks for posting the rules, I think the classes will be lots of fun and draw some new cars.

I have an inline throttle stop that I obviously will not be able to use. Can you consider some way of letting the stop cars run with a disabled stop? For the sake of consistency in throttle stop made, I would prefer to not have to remove it for the Milan Index Class. But it must be in place and charged with the air bottle for the throttle to work. I would be glad to disconnect power/ground to the stop by making an inline connection, or disconnect the timer wires. It is pretty obvious when most of the cars go on the stop, so it would be easy to police from the tower.

Please consider something short of removal. I would very much like to race in the 10.00 class.

Thanks,
Ron Cannatti

.500 tree

February 27 2009, 7:54 PM

I agree or please think about the .500 tree for 9.0 and 10.0 classes. A real light car ie super gas car would have a big advantage on the tree compared to a 3000 lbs+ car that might not even be able to go red on a .400 tree. Those guys will just decide not to show up and all we are all about is car count, better for milan and better for the racers. If it where a .500 tree those lighter cars with the delay box could just dial it in. Just my 2 cents. I am finishing a car just to run the 10.0 class and brackets on Sunday Thanks Chris for you time
