2008 TOP e.T. CHAMPION LARRY GRAMLICH |
Larry runs in the Sunday Top ET class, driving a 1966 Chevy II SS Diamond Race Car. He is sponsored by Gramlich Performance and has his machine work done by Fall Automotive.
Larry started racing in 1967 with his 56 Chevy and it’s grown from there. Larry met Jack Roush in 1969 at College. Jack taught him quite a bit about drag racing. Larry also raced 2 years 1995-1996 with Bob Leverich who drove a Top Alcohol dragster. Also while working in Florida he won 2 races at Miami Hollywood back to back. Larry has raced from California to Florida and as far north as Montreal, Canada. A few years back, Larry was awarded the Sportsman Award by his fellow racers.
His crew members are son Matt, son Mike and daughter-in-law “Little” Lisa. You can always spot the Gramlich Family supporting each other in the pit area. Wife Terri, daughter Lisa, son’s Matt, Marc and Mike. Son-in-law Ryon, daughter-in-laws Lisa and Jennifer. Grandchildren Tylor (races a junior dragster), Ryleigh, Madison and Julia.
57 year old Larry Gramlich was born and raised in Maybee, Michigan where he has served as a councilman for over 30 years. Larry’s Great Grandfather, Matt Gramlich, founded Maybee and was the Mayor. His Grandfather, Leo, and Father Arthur were both long time councilman.
This Champion is retired from Ford Motor Company and currently works in his shop, Gramlich Performance, with his sons.
We ask Larry what his best moments were in 2008. His best moments were being able to be at the track racing with his family and friends. Winning track Champion and having support of his fellow racers. Watching his grandson race and win. Also, watching the rest of his children race including his daughter Lisa and daughter-in-law Lisa.
His 2009 plans are to continue racing and have a good time! His goal is to make the bracket finals team.
Congratulations Larry from the staff at Milan Dragway. | | Chris Baxter
