I JUST NEED TO VENT A LITTLE!!!!! IT JUST FRUSTRATING THAT MY CAR IS 100% LEGAL TO RUN IN IHRA DOWN TO 9.00 SECONDS, BUT IN NHRA I HAVE TO HAVE- CHASSIS CERT-OVER PRICED MEMBERSHIP-NECK COLLAR-MULTI LAYER PANTS- CLOSED FACE HELMET-PYSHICAL-ECT-ECT-ECT. TIMES ARE TIGHT,YOU WANT MORE PEOPLE OUT TO THE TRACK,YET ALL THESE THINGS THAT I,AND IM SURE OTHERS WILL HAVE TO CHANGE COST MONEY. I MEAN DAMN, I'M LOOKING AT $800 TO $1000 DOLLARS IN EXPENSE TO RUN THERE,OR SLOW MY CAR DOWN TO 10.00 SECONDS AND BE HAPPY.....NOT. OH WELL,GOOD LUCK MILAN DRAGWAY, I REALLY THINK YOU MADE A MISTAKE CHANGING TO NHRA, ALL THEY WANT IS WHAT THE TITLE OF THIS MESSAGE IS NAMED.IT'S BEEN FUN.........

more money

I couldnt agree more. We have been running a 9,7 roadster for years that NHRA screwed us with a tubing size change when the car was half done which made it NHRA illegal. But we were good for IHRA. Now we are screwed again. A perfectly good race car we have to slow down? We dont think so. Bring back IHRA please.

You're not alone, there are probably at least a hundred other MD racers that share you anger. That's just local guys, think about nation-wide. What could have gone so wrong to cause NHRA to feel the need to double all the fees? It's either a case of gouging the masses or they(NHRA) must be in some real financial trouble... Either way we end up paying!!! I thought NHRA was a registered "not for profit" organization, makes ya wonder.

I couldnt agree more We have been running a 9.7 roadster for many years that NHRA screwed us with a tubing change rule half way thru the build. We were still good for Ihra. Uncertifiable for NHRA. Bring back IHRA.

I know what you mean!!!

Was planning on doing 3 of test days to get daughter comfortable in my car and licensed for IHRA and test our JR Dragster also, as we run grand bend usually, but ended up at US 131. I was also planning the first 6 points days as didn't interfere with GB schedule, but with money tight couldn't see spending another $300-400 just to race 6 races ($50-70 per race).

I'm with all the others here.

I agree with the rediculousness of all the nhra requirements. There are tracks all over the country without any sanctioning. They are there for the fun. Too bad there is not one around here.

Email NHRA

April 15 2009, 9:57 PM

You need to email NHRA. I emailed NHRA about 6 weeks ago and it was a long email about how they need to step up and work with the racers. I sent it to about 20 of the staff of NHRA and I did not get even a reply. Very few tracks push the rules and I think Milan not NHRA will work with you but they could never post that due to insurance reasons. Nhra is not for the weekly racer only the pros or the people who hit the Nationals. Money is tight and the sooner tracks and Nhra learn that> the more racers they will have.
By the way I sent a letter to Ihra about helping the bracket racers and they did reply within hours. If anyone does email NHRA please let me know how it goes.

I agree with the response time from both

April 20 2009, 12:41 PM

The last message was dead on target. I asked IHRA a question via email a couple months ago. I didn't expect a fast response, because it was still snowing. I got a response the same afternoon. I didn't like the response, but I got it quickly. I asked NHRA a question last week via email. what do you think I got - NOTHING. Way to go NHRA. This is what we pay more for? If your car doesn't have the letters TF on it, you are a nobody. I have always loved IHRA because they cared about the little guy. Well, I'll just suck it up and run, but I was happy the way it was.

I can answer just about any question you guys might have in regards to racing and NHRA. This switch is not meant to chase racers off, just the opposite. If you ran with us last year and were legal, you should be able to continue running with us if you carry the same credentials.
