Hey,
So we are new to NHRA at Milan and we all have make a decision to go with it or go away from it. So what. NHRA raised it fees about a year ago. They claim they did so to offset the increase in the operating cost involved in running NHRA.
With the failed buy out of NHRA by whatever media giant was going to caught NHRA flat and divided. So it now runs a Pro. Division and a Sportsmanr Division separate. The new NHRA was to be marketed like NASCA but the deal fell through. I personally feel that NHRA will regroup and merge the two divisions back together again at National events in the near future. Time will tell.
IHRA has also felt the pain of the current economy and trouble with major sponsors. With the loss of Knoll Gas who was a major sponsor they are not running alcohol Funny Cars this year.
MILAN forwhatever the reason felt compeled to go with NHRA for I am sure were economic driven reasons. I think they are doing a great job trying to help everyone get up to speed. I see a new renewed interest in making it fun again for everyone and I think it is great that they have dusted off the good old trophy and picture presentation. There is nothing wrong with a little PR in drag racing.
One thing is for sure. There are going to be more 10 second cars running this year than in years in the past. That fact alone should make for some very comopetative Drag Racing. Yikes! Better get a photo finish camera up and running.
Heck, many of you have your cars ready to go and I still don't have my engine together let alone in my car and the weather is warming up and the clock is ticking and I want to go racing and have some fun!
It's been a long cold winter and it's time to GO RACING!
See you at the finish line......soon!
Pete
