I think Milan needs to rethink the no 2-step rule or line lock for a stick shift car. We have no way to load the suspension without the line lock and have a good chance of rolling thru the beams. The automatic cars don't have that problem. The 2-step would help in holding a constant rpm for either. You should allow one of the 2 rules for a stick car. Gary Roy

We Applaud Milan Dragway's Rules

May 4 2009, 9:06 AM

Thank you Milan for checking our registration and proof of insurance. We all appreciate a level playing field and it is important to protect the integrity of this race. The problem with allowing a two step or line lock for stick shift guys is someone with NO regard for the RULES could use a clutch pedal device and a tranzbrake switch.
Milan Dragway PLEASE do not alter the rules for any reason!

I agree

Lets make it a level playing field! Once staged the automatic cars can't use their brakes to keep them from moving.

no line locks for stick cars?

May 5 2009, 1:02 AM

whats wrong with stick cars using a line lock? i think they should be able to use one. i raced a stick car for a few years and know how hard it is to compete with automatic guys. a line lock has no starting line advantage other than keeping the car in the beams. really it makes it more challenging to let the clutch and line lock out on time. you got to have much respect for the people still pullin the gears. just my 2 cents

The Wild Street rules have been posted on this site for a long time. The decision to participate is up to you. We do not show up at UMTR events and complain about not being able to race an automatic. Milan has put together a GREAT class with very simple requirements. There are many opportunities at Milan to run a linelock and or twostep just not in this class. I do not hate stick cars but we do not want this class to progress into another mess like Mod or Pro.

My 2 cents.....

Honestly I think the rules are good the way they stand. I can understand the Stick racers point of wanting a line lock. However the use of a 2-step is not justifiable. A racer with an auto has to hold RPM with his or her feet also. The stick racer chooses to run that combo. Though I don't have a stick car now I have raced them in the past. I was taught to hold the brake with the heel of my right foot and toe on the gas. Thats what I would suggest to any stick racers to do. It works quite well. Or just flat foot it off the limiter hang on...lol....

Let it grow!

I agree with the stick guy. A line lock is no more than a brake control just like your brake pedal. They only have two feet. As for the rules being written long ago is lame. Look how many times the All motor class and the Outlaw class rules have changed. It was to make it FAIR for all. This wild street class is not to WILD to watch when you see 18 and 20 second cars putt down the track. Let this run with the Friday King of Street class rules, then with the payout watch it grow.

Re: Line locks for stick shift racers

Is a parking brake legal in the car?
Is a hand lever actuated parking brake legal in the car?
Is a hand lever actuated parking brake wirh all the ratchet teeth ground off legal in the car?

YOU CONNECT THE DOTS.

I have often found it more profitable to read between the lines than to mount an argument against a rule I don't like.
