Last Saturday, George, John, and I headed into the Lemhi's for some fresh air and sunshine. Our quest was two rather obscure 11'ers named Big Creek Peak and Pahsimeroi #2 (Flatiron). This was an excellent adventure. We started from the Big Creek Campground on the west side by ascending a rocky ridge of mountain mahogany ("the mahogback"). The snow began around 7800 feet. Essentially we did a 9 mile loop with about 6,000 vertical. By the end of the day we were high centering in the soft snow. It was so exhausting that the following day we did not join Dave, Brandon, and Mike on their Bell Mountain quest. Instead we hiked up Bassinger Creek, sat in the grass, and witnessed someone top out on that impressive summit.
