I had to use four wheel drive three times two weeks ago to get to the trailhead and my truck has 35" mud tires. No way you will make it without some really skilled driving or four wheel drive. As for water, the river was very full. The creeks that feed the west fork were also very full. I filled up near the top of Leatherman pass. Tons of snow up there still.
