The point of the post was that you can't use SNOTEL stations to accurately measure storm snow totals, especially large storms, because of settlement. Precisely because there's no one there clearing a storm board. And thus one shouldn't go complaining that the storm didn't deliver the forecasted storm totals based on SNOTEL snow height data.
It's still not clear to me where this report is from - the coords don't quite match the Galena Summit SNOTEL, though they're within a mile or so. But they're are quite different than Vienna Mine. |
