Response to Fritz!---Wait that's me!
I enjoy your posts on Supertopo.com. They bring back memories. As an 18 year old, I traveled to the Sawtooths in 1972 with a some teenage friends from Colorado. We had heard rumors of obscure summits and perfect rock. In a little over a week, we climbed Grand Mogul, Heyburn, Warbonnet, Finger of Fate, Eagles Beak, Packrat, Cramer, and a few others. There was no guidebook. We used a rope on just about everything and rappelled from most summits. We wrote nothing down, took few pictures, and went home. The lonely routes and obscure summits were impressive.
That was 40 years ago and I never imagined living nearby. It seems like little has changed. It's as if a time warp has occurred. The roads and trails are more traveled, but the summits are mostly empty. A lot of adventuring remains to be done. Keep at it!
