John: Your adventures are much appreciated!
As always, I'm a little jealous of those Nevada jaunts you & Tom have. I will mention, the old Hotel Ely downtown, is likely far more comfortable than the Motel 6, & I suspect cheaper, & far more interesting, but you do have to work through the casino & the smokers.
Notch Peak was fascinating. Our "old" friend Jim Donini did a technical route on that big face a couple years back. It sounded somewhat gripping.
North of Delta, I have spent time on Topaz Mountain. The fun there is, you get to look for Topaz crystals on the way to the summit & back. They are very reflective & can catch your eye with a significant sparkle from 40 feet away.
And! I enjoyed those icy photos of Snowslide Peak. I climbed one of those gullies on the right side of the North Face in the early 1980's, in summer dry conditions with Mark Mason. I think we brought a rope & gear, but didn't rope up.
