You're right about the approach being a major factor. You can ride a mtn bike for a good portion, though. It's hard to take two weeks off to make an attempt on Storm when you can go to Hell's Canyon, walk 15 minutes and drill and climb to your hearts content for two weeks!
BUT, if I were to have a strategy on an attempt, I would aid anything above .11a and comeback later to free the rest (if possible) after setting up the belays.
Don't lowball yourself. You're probably more technically and mentally sound than most of the gym rats we see out there! I bet you have the skills to pay the bills.
It's funny how things up there go in spurts. I remember Jughandle being a destination (still is) when Mike S. put up some HARD stuff. Just one line has to go up... We need a music montage... |
