That peak on the reservation you're referring to is nearly straight south of my back deck, and it's what I see anytime I look out over my back yard. Bannock Peak is a great littl climb, and Earl and I have done it and avoided the tomahawks and arrows. I could literally start hiking to that summit by walking out my back door and hiking south.
Someone once told me there has never been any game shot on the reservation further than one winch cable length from a main road. Having said that, we didn't find any evidence of Indian activity on our way to the summit. Approach Bannock Peak from the south side out of Rockland and no one will bother you.
Then just don't tell anyone until you get back.
