Set out to climb Shephard Peak, but there was snow on the ridge and my last minute hiking partner (one of my friends that was camping at Edna creek) only had "hiking sandals" on, so climbing up a snowy ridge was out.
Tyee was snow free and looked pretty easy, so we did that. The views of the Sawtooths from the top are great, and we found a register left by Sawtooth Sean (assuming it was him, as he was the first entry in 2008). 4 groups of hikers signed the register since then.
I'd guess it's about 3.2 miles out and back with 1600' cumulative gain, if you count the return climb.
