Great TR and photos. I'm envious. Wheeler is on my list of Nevada highpoints that I must visit. Wheeler was listed as the highest peak in Nevada until they did a new survey in 1980 and found that Boundary Peak (13,147') is actually in Nevada and a bit higher than Wheeler (13,065').

Bob, they advertise Wheeler at Great Basin NP as being the highest peak "entirely in Nevada"!

Boundary isn't even a real peak by many standards. It's a sub-peak on a ridge that's a short walk to California and a higher summit.
