I don't have a real guess, but it does look 'smoky'. Newman?

Well this has got to be in the Sawtooths. Maybe Elk or Packrat Peak?

No, not Monte Verita.

Three hints:
Sawtooth peaks are the right place to think.
It's in the Dear Tom Lopez book
On LOJ, it has no ascents

Sigh! It was Japan Peak, until I talked with Louie Stur, fall 1972 about climbing a peak-let to the right of Splatski's photo, which we named Mayan Temple.

Sigh. Mayan Temple.

Photos to follow in the morning.

Ray-

I want to see your pics of Mayan Temple, but this is not Mayan Temple.

Here's a couple Mayan Temple shots I have:

This is from down by the Feather Lakes somewhere:

And this is from somewhere on the climb up Warbonnet, with Packrat on the left and Mayan Temple on the right:

It just does not fit my previous guess. I've never been where the photo was taken from, but it has to be of Mt. Underhill 10,160', 1/2 mile south of Packrat.

It is Underhill.
Which is BETWEEN Packrat and Elk.

In reality, Packrat is in the picture, on the far right. So you were very close, Matt.

Okay, Ray. Start a new round.
