Sounds like first off, you need a homemade exfoliate to keep the dry skin rubbed off. There are several "recipes" you can use.
Sugar Scrub
cup of raw sugar
1/2 cup olive oil
Mix the sugar and oil together to make a paste. Rub it into your skin using a soft wash cloth, bath sponge, or loofah. Rinse well with warm water. If desired, you can add one teaspoon of your favorite kitchen herb. Try ground ginger for a nice oriental scent, or thyme or rosemary for a nice herbal smell.
To make a mild facial scrub, combine:
1/2 cup honey
2 cups oatmeal
1/3 cup corn meal
Spread the paste gently onto the face and throat area. Rub it in with a soft, damp wash cloth. Rinse well with warm water.
I have extremely dry, flaky skin because of all the meds I take. The absolute best, cheapest thing I've found on the market is called "Simply Basic Nut Butter". Its found at Walmart in the lotion section. comes in a 6.8 oz jar for about $3.85. There are other scents: mango, grape seed, etc., but they each have different ingredients. This one works the best for me. I had a hard dry patch on my ankles. I began using this cream ALL OVER my body before dressing, before going to bed, before putting on my socks, and after a shower. The dry patch is completely gone. I buy a couple jars at a time and it lasts quite a while. The sugar scrub above works great, and dissolves in the shower.
