May be of Use?

by Jim McKay

Hi Daniel,
I don't know if this is of use to you, or perhaps we have got our info from the same place.
Once AGAIN I 'Googled' - Daniel McCoy, born: 1735/1740 Scotland.
This is what I came up with:
Ancestry.co.uk
Born abt 1735/1740 Scotland
Married 1762 Ireland
Died 1762 South Carolina
David McCoy born 1763
Daniel McCoy born 1765 at SC
Married 24 Sept 1783 at Old Montgomery,VA
Died 26 Sept 1823 at Jackson County
Spouse Eliz RYLE
John McCoy born abt 1768/1769
Moses McCoy 1771
George W McCoy abt 1772/1773

(page maintained by CRAIG DICE)

Although I haven't tried it myself, why not try 'Census Scotland 1735-1740'?? This could be another source of WHERE Daniel was born? You could hypothesize and ask 'Why was he over in Ireland in the FIRST PLACE? Was he sent there to work? Did he go voluntarily? Was it SOUTHERN Ireland? Was it in the NORTH where so many of the English/Protestant Landowners had their Estates?
You could go on and on!! One other 'lead' I suggested to the good Dr Don McGee, was 'Births, Deaths, Marriages, Donegal' - Could be you find where Daniel and Margaret (?) wwere Married? If NOT Donegal, try the OTHER Counties.

I hope ANY of this stuff is of use to you - Happy Hunting!
Kindest Regards, Jim McKay, Stirling, Scotland.
