Welcome to the Penn and Teller bulletin board, a great place to keep in touch with
fellow Penn & Teller fans or ask questions about the guys. We welcome your thoughts!
I'm sorry, I asked Teller and thought I had already posted his response. He said:
" I did. We had limited footage, as we were able to shoot only one show, and with only five cameras, but they consulted me the whole time and used my suggestions."
Thank you kindly, Audrey, for the heads up. As soon as I saw the message, I went to pre-order it.
I still am disappointed that I was never able to make it to see the performance in person.. While this does not make up for it, it helps to assuage the wanting I've had for some time now.
I feel your pain Darin. I had a great front row ticket for the NJ show and couldn't go due to illness (both mine and my grandmother's). A 5.5 hr drive was a bit too far to do while sick and a relative's in the hospital. Looking forward to seeing the show on DVD!
Is this a DVD I see before me? No, not yet, but when it's available. Thanks to Bunny (and my husband acting as chauffer) I got to see MacB on opening night. It was a wonderful performance, and it will be cool to have a way to revisit that night. Mazel Tov Teller and everyone else involved in the production. I certainly hope there are more theater productions in Teller's future.

Just curious, but how much of this version of MacBeth sticks to the original? Somehow I have a hard time seeing Teller taking seriously the moral and supernatural elements of MacBeth. Is he possibly lampooning Shakespeare here?
I don't think it was lampooning anything. A few different interviews about the production said Teller envisioned it as a "bloody horrorshow," or something like that. Sounds like it was just a great opportunity to marry some kickass illusions with one of Billy's finest.
MacBeth is an awfully gorey read, and fabulously paced and written. I love it, though I haven't yet seen a production of it. I never wanted to see anything that couldn't do the really bloody text full justice. I tried to get out to NJ to see the show, but couldn't due to family stuff. So the DVD will be my first-ever viewing of an actual production of one of my favorite plays.
Thanks, Teller (and the rest of the MacBeth crew)! You rock. I'm very excited to watch the show.

Thanks for your reply, but I was actually asking for those who had already seen the DVD, or performance.
It just seems a bit odd to me that Teller an avowed atheist would seriously tackle Macbeth considering its elements of religion, prophecy and witchcraft. That and how it was so complimentary to (or even written for) Bible enthusiast King James. That's why I asked, in hoping to understand if it was some sort of parody or satire, or what.
Great production, and all the DVD extras were a wonderful surprise! Especially got a kick out of the Hitchcock moment at the end of 'Blood' extra. BWAH!
Thanks for doing this, especially for those of us who couldn't make it to the live performances.
