To the people who keep saying Penn & Teller are "right wing":

I've noticed that several people on here keep saying that Penn & Teller are "right wing nuts." Let me say a few things to these people:
The problem with this is that "left vs. right" is a false construct, and it is serving its purpose well by confusing people like you. The system is playing you like a piano.
Penn & Teller might have been considered "conservative" at one time insofar as they support property rights, self-defense rights, private enterprise, etc; but the people who call themselves "conservative" today have moved very far from this. I've found that the neo-con sites (I'm not going to give them free publicity by naming them) are the most hostile against libertarians I've ever seen; much worse than the left.
You're either for freedom or you're against it. "Left vs. right" is a scam. Please wake up.
Ah half wit, try and get this: There are good guys and bad guys. Bad guys are greedy, racist, sexist, reactionaries like Penn & Teller who believe in property rights, guns, and not paying their fair share of taxes. Good guys are humanist, compassionate, and believe in the dignity of their fellow human beings. They believe in single payor health care for all, unions, equal pay, progressive taxation, and the move to democratic socialist polices. You'll rarely see the good guys on TV as the bad guys control it. You'll just hear unchallenged morons like Hannity and O'Reilly and other Fox dim wits talk about patriotism (large military budgets) and small government (meaning no regulations of bad guys, Soc Sec and Medicare cuts, but corporate welfare). Wake up, turn off the TV and start studying your Marx. Unlikely as you probably too busy spanking the monkey while you watch Fox News!
If a belief in individual responsibility, individual rights, and financial prudence, along with a deep respect for Constitutional values makes one a "bad guy", then I'll happily accept the label myself. And if a love for group entitlements, group identifications, spending like there's no tomorrow, and political correctness makes one a "good guy", then humanity's in deep trouble.
Of course, we libertarians experience the constant joy of irritating those at both ends of the political spectrum. Deep "Conservatives" loathe us for our support of gay marriage, legalized abortion, full equality for women and other "minorities", separation of church and state, physician aid-in-dying, and so much more that they see as despicably "liberal". While the Uber-"Liberals" despise us for our support of fiscal sanity, personal accountability, individual rights/responsibilities vs. groupism, and so much more that they see as horrifically "conservative".
You know you're doing SOMETHING right when BOTH the fundamentalist "rightists" and the fundamentalist "leftists" hate your guts!
