Yes, Cole is gone forever. He will have no guest appearences or be ressurected. I agree, he was a very good character on the show up until he became the Source. But otherwise he added a nice twist to the usual 'for the Greater Good' story line. However, if you would lke to see him again, you can watch the old episodes during the weekday at 9 in the morning and 6 at night on TNT. So far they're at the very begining of Phoebe and Cole's relationship (season 3, I think).
