Response to Brain Downloads?

OK, cool. But to what end?

By 2050 the knowledge in anyone's brain will be so little compared to the total knowledge that exists that the addition will hardly be worth the time. And what of trivial knowledge that we all possess, such as the fact that the jelly in the refrigerator was opened on Wednesday, or the scratch on the living room floor happened when you moved was TV stand? What of knowledge like that? How would a computer seperate significant information as might be found in Stephen Hawking's brain, from trivial knowledge which will also be found in his brain?

This article immediately made me think of immortality as an objective. That would be a great science fiction plot, but it has already been done.

Suppose the contents of a brain could be totally downloaded to a computer. What then? Does this downloaded brain just sit there in computer memory? Would it be cognizant of its predicament in the computer or would it know that it would soon be upladed into a human body. But then, what happened to the brain that was controlling that human body?

I think i will have a night cap and ponder this more. Maybe two.
