If you make a donation to the Canadian Breast Cancer
Foundation, please mention "lacrosse" in a note with
the donation. At my request, in memory of my wife
Brenda, the CBCF will then direct the funds to a
facility seeking a "cure", rather than a "control".

Eight days until the face-off

by (Login Zacher)

Greetings,

We are excited to have you join a select group of individuals and volunteers who will participate in this community celebration of Canada's first national sport while raising essential funds for the Canadian Centre for Abuse Awareness (www.abusehurts.com) and the Spirit of the Stick (www.spiritofthestick.com) organizations.

In addition, to organizing the game we will be running a Family Fun Fair in the parking lot at the Aurora Community Centre on Saturday. NLL and other players will be available to sign autographs and take photos. We have a huge selection of items on the silent auction table for a wide variety of price ranges. Finally, included in the registration package is a certificate of participation, DOVE stickers, bracelet and Warrior Evolve2 head and shaft for those who have meet the suggested target levels. In addition your kit will allow them fee entrance to the Junior B game between the Saints and Rama Kings Saturday evening shortly after we wrap up the DOVE 2009 closing ceremonies.

I have included a few URLs which contain vital resource information for the DOVE 2009 event. To accommodate the last minute surge in registrations, we will formalize and post the final schedule this Sunday. Please keep in mind that you can play as much as you want but make sure to take the appropriate breaks for re-hydration throughout the course of the game.

We will electronically hit every media outlet in the province of Ontario. I need your need to spread the word to your local community of friends, family and neighbours as well!

To ensure that we have enough sticks and gloves ready at the arena for the registration, please drop me an email with your current pledge total by Tuesday June 9th. You'll have to register with the DOVE booth to receive your registration package, t-shirt along with your incentive prizes. You will leave a photocopy of your pledge sheet with us before heading over to the CCAA booth to submit your cash and cheques for your pledges. Both booths and the silent auction tables will be located upstairs in the auditorium. Gatorade, water and food will be available for all participants with DOVE bracelets.

Although are numbers are slightly lower than last year, I challenge each of you to dig deeper and secure those extra pledges. If you can't make it out this year, find a participant and support them through your pledge and/or silent auction bid. The success of this event rests on everyone's shoulders!
Cheers,

Jim
