Can someone "in the know" please get us up to speed on the facemask issues? Questions on the table are: Does the facemask have to be secured to the bucket? Can it swivel from the 2 screws at the top? Do we need chin cups, or only chin straps? What is the certification that must be on the bucket? (NOCSAE, CSA, CLA???) Thanks in advance, see you in Midland!
Posted on May 6, 2008, 8:28 AM from IP address 207.236.93.210
does the straps have to 4 point or can they be 2 point. do we have to have the straps to the back part can we the cup off the normal chin strap? and do we have to the facemask fastned by the side.

Does anyone know if the Marty O'Neil (3 Vertical Bar) and the OTNY Pro 20/20 (Sr) face masks are approved for Master's tournaments? Maybe I'm answering my own question but, the CLA web site shows both as approved.

I am very pleased to announce that one of our new Sponsors has offered to pass along savings to anyone coming to Whitby, requiring an overnight stay.
The Whitby "Marriott" will honour all bookings with a "special rate". All you need to do is mention "Lacrosse Inside The Game" at the time of booking. Note however, that the bookings must be made over the phone calling the Hotel directly (905-444-9756); Internet bookings are not eligible.
So for those coming to Whitby in August, or just coming here for any business, please support one of our Sponsors...The Whitby Marriott!
I am travelling to Prague,Finland, and Sweden from April 23 - May 5 of this year to be apart of a few instructional lacrosse camps and hopefully a couple of exibition games along the way. As you can all imagine, Lacrosse in Europe is no where close to what it is in North America...I have been able to secure enough player equipment for the trip...but I have had difficulty locating much in the way of Goalie Equipment. I am looking for "Lrg" size and preferably at very minimal cost...I am hoping to put together a full set from either one or multiple donations. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Yours in Lacrosse,

After a very successful Fall Season the opportunity arose to run a summer season on Sunday nights. We're making a go of it. All information is in the link below. Please note: the first registration is for returning players only, the second is for all.
So some on out to the Sports Garden Cafe (Iroquois Park Arena), have a pint, and let's get talking lacrosse once again....
I'm working with the Cambridge Minor Lacrosse League to set up a Men's Pick up league to run in concert with the minor house league and travel schedules. I was wondering if you could pass on to your members or maybe post a news article on your website for me asking anyone interested in playing to give ma a call. We are looking at a fun league dedicated to fun play for all levels from beginner to advanced. I'm looking to run pick up nights every Friday night and Sunday afternoon in one of our arenas in Cambridge. Cost would be minimal.... I'm hoping to get at least 20-30 players so the costs for the 12 week season would be around 80.00-100.00 per player or less depending on the turn out. Anyone 21 years of age or older is welcome. The league will be no-contact or light contact (can't be avoided in this game right?) and run will with Master league rules, call your own penalties/possessions and 5 sec possession up the floor.
If anyone would be interested please call me at 519-267-2856 to register. Please pass this around to your leagues to see if any friends or neighbours may be interested also. Payment would not be requested until the first night of play in April... I'm hoping but I gat you more information as the time gets closer.
Best wishes to all of you on a good 2008 season and hope to see you all on the floor.
Best Regards,

It is with great sadness the MacSpadyen family announces the passing of Charlie MacSpadyen, peacefully at Etobicoke General Hospital, on February 29, 2008, in his 84th year.
Dearly beloved husband of Moira. Dear father of Ron (Sandy), Ian (Carrie) and Sylvia (Paul). He was a loving and devoted grandfather of Chelsea, Tessa, Ryan, Kyle, Courtney, Stephanie and Julie.
His passion for life and his sense of humour were an inspiration to all who knew him. The family would like to extend a warm appreciation to all of the physicians and nurses who cared for him in his life, and in particular those in the Palliative Care Unit, who lovingly comforted him on his final days.
Opportunity for friends and family to share memories of his life will be made available at Newediuk Funeral Home, 2058 Kipling Avenue, Etobicoke, for a visitation on Monday, March 3 from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m., and a Funeral Service on his 85th birthday, Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Etobicoke General Hospitial, Palliative Care Unit, and will be administered by Newediuk Funeral Home.

DOVE 2008 - As mentioned during the OLA meeting, Aurora Masters Lacrosse will organize the world's longest lacrosse game (25 hours) on June 13 at 3:00 pm to raise money for the Canadian Centre for Abuse Awareness. We need approximately 10 referees, 160 players and 20 volunteers to ensure the event's success!
Although the registration deadline for players is May 16th, I would encourage you to contact your respective members, direct them to our website www.laxdove.ca and register asap. The registration fee is $35 which covers your jersey, a minimum of 4 hours of floor time, a least two meals and non alcoholic beverages along with other surprises.
I will personally throw down a challenge to each participant to collect at least $250 in pledges for this event. If 160 players, 10 referees and 20 volunteers each secured $250 each in pledges we would raise $47,500 from our organization alone!
I have a number of corporate sponsors to approach and with these numbers we should be able to leverage more from the "big boys"!
All the necessary information is online at www.laxdove.ca. If you have any questions please contact me.
Cheers,
Jim
PS. I apologize for the multiple inquires but this event is worthy of ensuring that we do not miss anyone who may want to participate.

Due to an overwhelming response the player roster is only 25 players away from being completely full. Although we may accept additional individuals depending on scheduling and logistics, we can not guarantee your spot after these 25 spots are filled.
Please drop me an email if you're planning to participate in the next couple of days with times you are available. You can imagine the work involved in drafting a schedule which attempts to meet everyone's needs while balancing the player distribution evenly throughout the game.

The Durham Masters Senior Lacrosse Club is looking for a few quality guys (35 and older - you must be turning 35 in the 2008 calendar year) to play on a Senior tournament team. Although we already have a core group of decent guys, we still have room for a few more players. You do not have to live in the Durham area to play for this team, you simply need to be able to make tournaments. There are 6 tournaments including Provincials. We are planning to play in 4 tournaments including Provincials. Deadline for registration is March 1, 2008.
If you are interested, or have any questions, please contact me. Please note that it is important to us, that we have stand-up guys on this team. All players that come in will play on a per tournament basis. Our hope is that you become comfortable with us, and vice versa. If things work out well you will be invited to become a full time member of this club. We are looking for only a few guys, so please understand that your response does not guarantee you a spot.

Unfortunately, this age bracket is stricken with either "I'm too young at heart to play in that division!" or ".... what was the question again?"
You're best advocate for this division is OLA President John Doherty. At least one individual realizes he's moving on in life and should find an age appropriate division to participate in.
And yes, before John replies to this email, the addition of a second knee brace makes me an ideal candidate too!
