Dundee University Archbishop Gawlina Polish Armed Forces in Scotland, History Project

by

I am attempting to build an oral and written history archive at Dundee for future generations of Scots with Polish connections.
We would also like to use the archive to introduce university history students to practical research. This increase knowledge about Poland's contribution to the defeat of Germany, the treatment of its nationals by the Soviets, and perpetuate the memory of the Polsh servicemen and women who fought on all fronts.
We are conducting interviews with the surviving members of the Polish service personnel and will welcome the names of anyone who served here at any point 1940-47.
One of the most interesting aspects has been the memoirs submitted by widows and their children. These are valid research contributions, no matter how small. If anyone would like to pen some memoir, help and guidance will be provided.
This is a continuing project with several other aspects to it. That includes a long term objective of establishing the Polish history as a standard subject offered to undergraduates at all of Scotland's major universities.
