Everyone's done an animal Gundam at one point or another. What about other cultures of Gundam?
My reasoning: We have Captain, the American Gundam (the Parade colors of red, white, and blue); Zero, the Western European Gundam (the suit of armor motif); and Bakunetsumaru, the Japanese Gundam (do I have to explain it?). What would Gundams from other "countries" look like? Almost everyone in the fandom has an OC, or even dozens of OCs, that are within the same cultures as the Gundam Force or, at least, are related in some way.
(Fleur in Skylark, European analogue with lots of castles and royalty.
Crimson is a dragon Musha, a branch-off of the Musha culture (technical term is "moiety".)
People tend to avoid making new Neotopian Gundams, but if I've forgotten one, let me know.)
I'd think an Arabic Gundam would be really cool, or an Eastern European Gundam. Or even an African tribal Gundam (heck, I might make that one).
In fact...
(plants a flag) This is now a challenge!
The rules: You're making an OC who is directly influenced by an Earth culture that it NOT American, Western European, or Japanese. If you've already made one that's not in a fanfiction yet, or IS in a fanfiction and I've forgotten about it, too bad. It has to be new.
For visual artists: A drawing (clean lines, color optional) of your Gundam, plus his or her name, culture you based it on, and short personality summary. Should include the entire body.
For writers: A good, long, in-depth character guide including Name, Culture, Personality, and even the rules of the society he or she lives in. I'm talking religious dogma, meeting-new-people etiquette, marriage rituals, naming ceremonies, as MUCH as you can get in. I'd like the Gundam's culture to be close without being an exact copy. I doubt a Fiji Gundam would put as much emphasis on the ocean as a Fiji human since Gundams sink, not swim.
Extinct cultures (Mayan, Aztec, etc.) are encouraged as well as accepted.
Native American culture will get you many much bonus points.
Winner is whoever A( draws the picture that most accurately reflects their chosen culture whilst still making the Gundam look like a Gundam and/or B( writes a well-rounded, thought-out, NON-MARY-SUE character.
Winners will get a one-shot featuring the Gundam Force exploring the world of their character, or vice versa depending on the artist's preference.
Now get crackin'! I'm gonna be making my own, even though it won't be eligible. This'll be AWESOME!
