Video games are a good source of inspiration. Inspiration with combat scenes anyway for...Well, combat scenes. XP

Music works too. Maybe listen to a song that has a type of story to it (Like Sk8ter Boi by Avril Lavigne) and do a song fic of that? *shrug*
