Alright everyone...I've been incognito for the summer but I'm back and I'm ready to roll!!! Ok PoPQuiz....boys and girls...

What happen to us September 11 was tragic. Alot of innocent American lives were lost. What's worse is the fact that soon there will be more loss of human life on both sides. We should have the world leaders enter a cage and fight it out instead of its people. Anyway I'll get off my soap box now.

Since the tragedy, I've been pondering on the fact that martial art books were found with flight manuals belonging to some of the terroists. The question: What marital art books would you find to be the most effective for an individual to learn and be effective with in a short period of time.

Peace out...

I don't know what martial art books were found, but I wouldn't be surprised if the hijackers had training in a Filipino art.

The reasons:

1) The Filipino arts are renowned for their blade work and the hijackers were obviously skilled with edged weapons.

2) Osama Bin Laden has agents in the Philipines and is alleged to be connected to an aircraft hijacking or bombing there.

3) Bin Laden recruits his people from refugee camps and ghettos from throughout the world. Someone raised under such rough conditions would already have to be a skilled fighter in order to survive. Learning a classical art, or one that didn't have a lot of hands-on training, would have bored someone like that to death.

Just my two cents.

I would think they were not Martial Arts Books we as Americans are use to calling but were probably some kind of Arabic Military Manuals with some sort of Martial Arts applications?

That would be my guess and I wish they would come out and tell us what the damn books were and hopefully it's not some BS rumor!

Thanks,
Eddie

============================
We've heard about how the passengers onboard United Flight 93, which crashed in rural Pennsylvania, stormed the hijackers that took over their plane. One of the passengers involved in the counter-assault, Jeremy Glick, was a trained martial artist--a judo champion.

What's just becoming known is that at least one of the suspected hijackers onboard Flight 93 was also trained in the martial arts. Ziad Samir Jarrah, thought to be at the helm of Flight 93 when it crashed, trained under Bert Rodriguez and Carlos Goni of Dania Beach, Florida.

Miami television station WPLG reported that Jarrah started training at the US 1 Fitness Center in May, and stopped attending classes in August. WPLG quoted Goni stating that Jarrah wanted to learn counter-knife and gun techniques. Jarrah, 26 years old, had rented an apartment just blocks away.

CNN reported that Jarrah paid about $1,000 to learn "street-fighting and self-defense techniques" during private lessons. According to CNN, Rodriguez trained Jarrah how to disarm gun and knife-wielding attackers using rubber training knives.

Jarrah's hands-on training contrasts to the items found at the residence of another suspected hijacker, Marwan Al-Shehhi. According to the Florida Today newspaper, Al-Shehhi and another Arab man living at the Panther Motel in Deerfield Beach left behind martial arts books along with Boeing 757 manuals and East Coast flight charts. Al-Shehhi was onboard United Airlines Flight 175, which crashed into the South Tower of the World Trade Center.
