Do come along to the next Drayton St Leonard Local History Society talk: Mark Davies, a local author, will be talking on "The Abingdon Waterturnpike Murder; Crime and Punishment in the Eighteenth Century".In 1787, David Charteris was seen walking from Abingdon Fair to Toot Baldon, but he never arrived home. His body was later discovered in a ditch near the Thames at Nuneham.Three men were hung for the crime, on the evidence of one of their accomplices.

Come and hear about the seamy side of life (and death) in and around 18th C. Abingdon!
Friday 28th April, 7.30 in the Village Hall. All welcome.
